Re: Car insurance

I've just sought quotes for my car from Abbeygate & Top Quotes. Both say comp cover through AIG (with all the usual add-ons). €280 & €478 I'm waiting for Top Quotes to tell me why. That is a huge difference for Abbeygate and Top Quotes to both use AIG and offering the same insurance cover for the v...

I drink at least 3-5 litres (much more in the hotter months) of water a day, mostly unfiltered tap water - no harm done in 15+ years.

Re: Car insurance

We use Top Quotes, but I do check other companies every year at renewal time. We have customised the policy to suit our needs eg named drivers and as the younger person it is registered using my age. The Comprehensive Cover package is not necessarily the right choice - so always worth checking what ...

So, from the article I understand that on the road from Chloraka into Paphos there will still be access for two-way traffic at the traffic lights at Pentaras Motors. Link to location map of La Bodega Cava which is mentioned in the article: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Labodega+Cava/@34.7825013,...

Re: Parents of alleged Ayia Napa gang rape victim feel optimistic

On appeal, she may get a longer, firm, prison sentence. The appeal will take into account only the charges of the prior trial and nothing added or new. Silly girl, she should thank her lucky stars she got away with a suspended sentence. Unfortunately she is taking advice from many groups with their...

Re: Lidl bans single-use plastic products

Will it be banning water / drinks / milk / sold in plastic bottles? Small steps. They have to start somewhere & the plastic drink bottles ca at least go for recycling. I agree with you Louise, but I see dustbins everywhere full of water bottles. Since the recycling bins were removed from our area a...

Must admit we have never updated the address on the S1 form as it has no expiry date and was exchanged for the Cyprus Medical Card a few years ago.

This was posted recently on Tala Blogspot: ''As in previous years, if you have used cards to dispose of, please leave these at Tala Council office or the Welfare Centre [next door to the Post Office]. The cards are recycled, made into new cards or gift tags and sold, with the proceeds to charities, ...

This was on the official BHC Nicosia FB Page UK in Cyprus - British High Commission Nicosia 30 December 2019 at 15:06 · We continue to support a British woman and her family following her arrest in Cyprus. This has been a deeply distressing case. Our staff have visited her a number of times in deten...

Re: Dermatologist in the Gesy system

As Louise mentions in her comment there are a few GESY Dermatologists. I have seen many recommendations in various FB groups for Dr Yiannakis Neofytou Tel: 26950303. This link is useful for finding doctors and pharmacies. It comes up in Greek and you can select the English version. Select from the f...

Increase in petrol prices in 2020

Motorists are in for a nasty shock in 2020 as fuel prices are expected to go up by 6-7-euro cents a litre due to Cyprus failing to meet EU targets on its biofuel mix, said the Petrol Station Owners Association. The price spike has nothing to do with them, Association President Stefanos Stefanou told...

There are a few MRI scanners in Paphos - the one I would highly recommend is at the George Vorkas Radiology Center. He used to be the Radiologist at the Iasis and has set up his own radiology centre. It would become a very big concern if the deal was so bad that a huge number of Expats decided to return to the UK - especially for the NHS and welfare systems.

Re: Are you an expat or an immigrant?

When we applied for the MEU3 last December the lady at Immigration told us that those holding the MEU3 will be able to exchange the certificate for an ID Card which will be much easier to carry and produce when requested. I still have a valid ID Card which expires next August. However, I also carry ...
