Re: The 70 year driving licence

The wife’s was signed by a doctor in the Evangelismos . Perhaps best to return to the doctor to get the reason. I always understood it was for a maximum period of 3 years at 70 but up to the doctor to recommend a shorter period if necessary and there has been mention in the past of making it an ann...

Re: Probate in Cyprus,,Oh dear!

We were advised to get probate sorted in the UK before Cyprus. As we don't own a property our situation is far simpler than most, but where possible everything is in both names.

Re: Complacency setting in.

I would have thought that elderly people would be taking more precautions as the restrictions are being lowered but so many ladies appear to have forgotten completely about the two meter physical distancing, especially in shops - it's as if the events of the last 5 months never happened. Decided to ...

Sunday 21 June - Partial Eclipse

''On the morning of June 21st, we expect a wonderful surprise. The annular ring solar eclipse will be visible from Cyprus but will be visible as a partial eclipse. The annular eclipse is an impressive phenomenon in which the moon's disk overlaps the sun's disk and the sun remains visible only like a...

Re: Winter Fuel Allowance Cyprus

The winter fuel allowance to ex-pats was stopped many years ago, unless someone knows better... Yes, the UK Winter Fuel Allowance was stopped a few years ago - I believe the last payment was in 2015 and was according to age. However, many continue to receive the Cyprus Winter Fuel Allowance which I...

Yes, Varky you are correct in expanding Point 3 and the connection to GESY contributions. Thank you. We are in that situation and our accountant asked us to supply a copy of the letter in order for her to complete the 2019 tax form. Even though I do not receive the state pension as a Dependant I had...

Great location between the main coast road and also upper road (with all the speed bumps) that traverses the village centre, both roads on bus routes. As with all areas some are more built up and others are more traditional in style. Nearest village with large supermarket and bank is Chloraka - Papa...

Re: Cyprus Tax Declaration 2019 - UPDATED 18 JUNE 2020

Indeed very confusing! Below are just a few bits of advice given from the tax office and speaking to a couple of accountants on an informal basis over the past 18 months, bearing in mind I am not a property owner and was asking about my specific situation. 1. From 1 January 2019 every Cyprus residen...

Re: Halogen/Air Fryer oven

My halogen oven bought from Papantoniou over 6 years ago and my slow cookers (1.5L and 6L) are a great combination for all types of cooking. Main oven is used as a store cupboard. Also helps keep the electricity bill very low as I live in an all electric apartment and do a lot of home cooking. Just ...
