Re: My experiences after 2 month driving electric SUV...

So what is the L/100km consumption of your Lexus? Difficult to answer. I'll quote realistic estimated averages with tyres at 2.3 atm, careful driving, quoted per tankful of ~33-38 l, comfortable inside temp, aircon/CD player on, engine set at Econ. Spring/autumn 20-30°C Mostly long trips 80% mixed ...

UNSG still hopeful that a durable Cyprus settlement can be achieved

Don’t recall. Let go of what has passed. Don’t imagine. Let go of what may come. Don’t think. Let go of what is happening now. Don’t examine. Don’t try to figure anything out. Don’t control. Don’t try to make anything happen. Rest. Relax, right now, and rest. These are a modern take on the 'six nail...

Re: Two police officers end up in A&E after incident in Geroskipou

One could say the cops had capital injuries   In reality, the word capital has so many meanings, it can be applied to almost anything. In SOED, it takes up over 40 lines of definitions. In their examples, I like W. Holtby 'Here gallant Labour, with nothing to lose but its chains, w...

Re: My experiences after 2 month driving electric SUV...

The electric car needs to have a capacity of less than 1,800 cc.
Cubic centimetres of what? The size of the electric motor? They haven't a clue, have they?

Really 0.2l /100km, not plugged into mains ever, that's a small glass of wine,
Read what I wrote, nit-wit!
0.2 l/100 km higher on typical 15-25 km round trips, lower on long trips.

Re: My experiences after 2 month driving electric SUV...

My experience with winter driving on my Lexus CT100H (not plug-in). When it's cold, it takes a few km on petrol for the engine to heat up before the hybrid kicks in. Consumption about 0.2 l/100 km higher on typical 15-25 km round trips, lower on long trips. I agree the acceleration is great with bot...

Turkey

In 1996, the UNEP Multilateral Fund mandated me to check that money given to Turkey for phasing out CFCs was spent correctly. I took with me an old handheld VHS-C camcorder and had a few spare minutes in the Istanbul/Izmir regions. I've just edited them, after 23 years! Attached are two short mini-t...

My favourite Xmas advert will always be this one. If you are easily offended then don't watch it.
Great idea for the Christmas message: appropriate but inoffensive IMHO.

Re: Question for Devil

5G is perfectly safe. Want the techie stuff? Electromagnetic radiation (simplistically) consists, as its name implies, of a combined electrical field and magnetic field. The question is how often the 2 fields change (frequency) and their intensity. For convenience, radio radiation is split up into r...

Re: Akrotiri and Larnaca Airport at risk of sinking

Devil, I know that you are considered an authority on many things, but how would you explain the fact that at the end of each of the ice ages somehow the ice in the glaciers somehow melted, and as a result a huge amount of water from the huge glaciers resulted. The result being a dramatic rise in s...

Fascinatingold laws

http://www.cylaw.org/KDP/data/1953_1_83.pdf I found this by accident. It is a long doc with Cypriot law modifications from 1953. It covers a score of different types of laws and if a section is uninteresting, just go on to the next one. Worth skimming through and mentally comparing it with today. Yo...

Re: Akrotiri and Larnaca Airport at risk of sinking

This thread has nowt to do with geological ages or even what happened when man first inhabited Cyprus ~12-15,000 years ago. It's all about the sea level rising a) because more water is flowing into it from melting ice and b) the temperature of the water rising because of global warming, causing expa...

Re: Scan Documents to Windows 10

Depends on what you mean by 'scan'. If you mean simply make a copy, then your scanner will have all the software you need. If you want to convert a scanned image to a readable/editable/writable file, then I strongly recommend AABBY FineReader (free).

Re: First day of electric car mass production at VW-Germany

Yes they may import nuclear from France because the Germans are heading to phase out their own nuclear. Maybe the clever buggers who think this don't realise that France's nuclear is already overstretched as older power stations are being decommissioned and that the French may need all their kWh for...
