Sorry, everyone, my big boo-boo of the day! I assumed that it would be acceptable to upload an MP4 file; apparently it has to be in the YouTube format. Mea culpa and four paternosters

All this adverse publicity does Cyprus's International financial and banking reputation no good.

Re: Bad News

So sorry to hear that. We lost Beardie at 14 1/2 over two years ago and we still miss the bugger! Somehow, I feel that losing a canine member of the family is harder than a human one – why, I know not. Unfortunately, we decided not to get another one (not really possible to replace!) because we felt...

Re: Chronic lower back pain relief

I will not answer your question because I believe it to be outside the remit of the forum such as this. What I will state is that there are tens of possible causes for lower back pain some of which are relatively banal while others can be very serious. The real answer to your question can be given o...

Re: Curiosity killed the cat: question?

Hi, all! For those who do not know our history, briefly we had an SME in Switzerland, where we lived for 35 years. We realised that our Swiss pensions would have been totally inadequate to continue living there. However, in 1996, I had already been diagnosed with cancer and, although I was in remiss...

Curiosity killed the cat: question?

I am quite curious to know more about why individuals and families come out here (mainly from the UK) and leave again to go back. What has frightened them away? What is the average length of time for these transient immigrants? Does not renting or purchasing make a difference? Et cetera, et cetera e...

Re: Citizens protest outside Presidential Palace against corruption

Whereas the corruption against which people are protesting? Is this an aftermath of the resignation of the parliamentary speaker? I doubt it; my feeling is that the low scale corruption is generalised throughout the whole of the civil service, possibly aided and abetted by the trade unions.

He has not been found guilty of anything at present, if he gets charged and found guilty, his perks will be taken away and there's a good chance he will do time I agree that he has not been found guilty of anything and, in my opinion, it is probable that he has not actually committed any crime. Re: House Alarm

Question: should you display a box which shows you have a burglar alarm?
If so, it shows that you have something worth stealing.
If not, a prospective burglar might ignore your house, unless you have other signs of wealth.

Funny not, this is a terrible time for not just us but for people all over the world.
Sorry, but I find it very funny. The Brits have always had a sense of distorted humour in the face of adversity. Nor have they ever failed to attack idiotic politicians, when justified, such as here.

Re: Solar panels on all our houses

On the average Cyprus flat roofed house. Previously, I had a PV system installed at my house, but it had a pitched, tiled roof. Dee Even with a pitched, tiled, roof, it is very unlikely that you would get anything approaching optimum conversion of light into electricity. The theoretical ideal would...

Re: MEU3 query

My MEU3 arrived in the post within three weeks of applying. To apply, I went to their local offices personally, with my wife, and with every single piece of relevant or irrelevant paper that I could find. Most of the paper ended up in the bin while I was still there; they sent everything that remain...

Re: Is wind the future energy source for the UK?

My apologies. When I first saw this article, I believed that it was newly published, without having checked the dates. In fact, it is a few years old. Notwithstanding, it is still very valid with the exception that there is less emphasis on offshore wind generation. There is little doubt that offsho...
