Re: Coronavirus: No new cases, first time since March 10

trevnhil, As far as I am aware the whole flight was carted off to a hotel and later tested with the majority of passengers tested negative and allowed home and the 7 were tested positive. Again, it was a repatriation of citizens/residents not tourists. Link added, read all about it. https://in-cypru...

Re: Coronavirus: No new cases, first time since March 10

8 New cases today. Are we taking our eye off the ball?
PS Just found out that 7 out of the 8 were from a repatriation flight from UK on 21/05/20. So not really homegrown cases.

Re: Communal Pools to remain CLOSED

Dee Anyone can put up a sign saying anything, problem is of course that if it is not the Law in the Republic of Cyprus then it is un-enforceable. No-one is above the Law......……………….. Our pool has been operating successfully for years too and has all the equipment required but it is still a public ...

Re: Spokesman: Government’s only concern is safeguarding jobs and businesses

I disagree that the headline was taken out of context even if the whole affair is a dead duck. The problem is the use of the word "only" in both the title and the text. It implies that the government has absolutely no concern about health and safety, because it is concentrating on jobs and business...

Re: Spokesman: Government’s only concern is safeguarding jobs and businesses

The headline is taken out of context and if you read the article it can be seen that the introduction of a particular bill to parliament was only to safeguard jobs and businesses and did not extend to other areas of the present situation. At least that was how I read it. In any case the bill was wit...

Repairsto Delonghi four slice Toaster

Anyone know where I can get my delonghi toaster repaired. Both 'pairs' trip off the electricity individually when lever depressed?

Re: Heat wave an ‘ally against coronavirus’ , says expert

Jimgward, A couple of days ago I thought the same. I was in a shop fully masked and gloved up and I noticed many people shopping without the same protections. After confronting several people and getting the usual shrug of the shoulders I went to the tills and asked them what the situation is. Appar...

Re: UK banks.Cypriot banks??

It should be borne in mind that the guarantees mentioned previously ar per bank, i.e. if you have multiple accounts within the same bank the guarantee is per bank and not for each account within any bank. Theoretically, for example, it is better to have 10 accounts spread across 10 different banks r...

Re: Paphos hotels could close unless British are allowed in

Euripides Loizides, who also owns the Mayfair Hotel in Paphos which has been used as a quarantine hotel by the state for the mandatory two week isolation of repatriation arrivals, said the ‘quick coronvirus test (which has often proved incorrect) , which takes an hour to complete, should be utilise...

We don't go to Lidl very often, do they sell drills all the time or just on occasion?
Most of the time, but can't guarantee all of the time. They have at the moment.

I had a respiratory infection in 1990 and I spent 3/4 hour going in and out of a sauna and putting loads of water on the stones.
Next day I was fine and well again.
So heat can kill infections.
In some cases yes, but not in the case of Covid-10.

Re: Heat wave an ‘ally against coronavirus’ , says expert

The advent of hotter weather was seen as being helpful in reducing the possible load on the NHS caused by other infections such as influenza which would reduce as summer arrived. That is all. The medical opinion is that masks would prevent one getting the Covid-19 viuus has not been proved and it is...

Re: Einhell Power Tools

A couple of years ago I bought an Einhell cordless garden vac. from Homemarket. Always has worked well. The only problem I have had is getting a replacement bag as the original bag rotted away very quickly. Having said that Homemarket eventually gave me one from a new vac they had in stock. I previo...

Sorry, but anybody who has anything to do with a tv program which consists of filming people watching TV shouldn't be trusted with anything more complicated than the opening of an envelope.

Re: Th P.M.'s speech-understood

Even though I detest the woman I think, in her press conferences. Nicola Sturgeon has been a whole lot more clear in her responses on the situation in Scotland than any of the muppets purporting to represent the UK government and the English situation. Just my opinion.

Excellent post Lincoln. Varky I have to wonder how many Americans you have actually met. Your sweeping generalisation is pathetic and, quite frankly, you are an embarrassment for making it. You are clearly the type of person the gutter press panders to with all of their negative reporting. Well sai...
