Fat, round tomatoes that taste of nothing.
That reminds me of M&S being taken to task a few years ago for labelling some of their tomatoes as "grown for flavour"

Re: Thrips infestation on ficus

I tried various bio/organic treatments on a sick ficus but none worked. The root treatment is a must - I don't think any bio treatment targets the roots, which is essential. Ficus is a plant you have to keep an eye on - any leaf falling should be checked immediately. They don't like being allowed to...

Re: Sending wine to the UK.

It depends if it's a particular brand of wine you are looking for. The choice of Cyprus wines in UK and online is very poor. We wanted wine from a particular winery, hence why we were very pleased to hear of our friends returning to UK with a container. You have never been to North London have you ...

Re: Thrips infestation on ficus

Ficus is a very sensitive plant and needs both foliar and root treatment, esp the latter. As with most problems, the ideal person to see is the plant protection lady in Chlorakaas - more-or-less opposite the coffee shop and tyre place. She will sell you the right stuff, which is either a two-part or...

Re: Jamie Oliver “Veg” book

Not a lot of help in this case, but I've been buying "Used" cookery and other books on Amazon over the last year, some at staggeringly good prices - a recent one cost £0.86 plus reasonably low postage, with the books being in almost pristine condition. There's one JO's Veg listed as used, but the pr...

No, in fact, we have less this year than last year also No Mozzies.
Agree on the fewer mozzies, but most importantly, no little flies in my red wine!

Re: Geroskipou Bypass

There is already a bypass, from Kato Paphos past the hotels and onto the airport road. Although a bridge over the ravine to the Peugeot Garage be useful! ..and to the north, there is the motorway, although the final short road on to the old airport road could do with upgrading. So, is it a bypass, ...

Re: Where IS the most expensive Carlsberg in Paphos?

The OP started off describing the price of Keo at a bar in town as a "rip-off". So what do peeps think a rip-off is? I think a rip-off is charging far more than necessary (to make a decent living) for a daily staple - bread, potatoes, milk, etc. i.e. daily necessities. No-one if forced to pay over t...

Re: Where IS the most expensive Carlsberg in Paphos?

Strangely, no one has mentioned value for money. How can you equate a beer, especially a lager, with value for money? Personally, I hate the ice-cold type lagers (inc. Keo) that are sold here and in the UK. I'd rather have a glass of water. However, craft beers vary to a huge extent that no two bee...

Re: Petition against Boris's Plan

Jim B: I beg to differ. The precise wording of the (non-binding!) 1975 referendum was: "The Government has announced the results of the renegotiation of the United Kingdom's terms of membership of the European Community. Do you think that the United Kingdom should stay in the European Community (the...

Re: Petition against Boris's Plan

It's interesting to note those who are clamouring for a second referendum, presumably they'd be happy to have the result ignored if it went in their favour? I also note that those complaining about a one offf vote don't mention the one off vote to take Britain into the EU. Double standards? I entir...

Unless I'm mistaken, Devil, Calgon no longer contains phosphates, but uses polycarboxylates, instead. Whilst they may not be effective in a washing machine - it seems it depends on what temperature you wash at - these compounds are fairly harmless and are even used as compounding ingredients in some...

Paulaf: the road is closed in the area around Aphrodites Rock - both ways. You can access Aphrodites Road from the Paphos side only. If you want to go to Pissouri, you have to use the A6 exit - you cannot travel from Aphrodites Rock to Pissouri on the B6.

Re: Important info re Meu 1 Meu 3

Has anyone ever given a reasoned argument on here why you should not get either an MEU1 (if you're here a lot, but less than 6 months, like me) or an MEU3 (if you're here more than 6 months)? I just can't for the life of me, see the problem in getting either of these, whichever is appropriate. What ...
