Re: Cyprus Post Problems

I went into the Tala Post Office yesterday thinking I might be able to post there. Obviously a bad assumption... It did look like semi-organised chaos at the time.

Re: Cyprus Post Problems

Kili01 - some good food for thought in there. I'm wondering whether to cancel what's in the letter and get a resend. If I do that and it turns up then...

Did your tracking actually show as Larnaca Airport in the past? Right now mine stops on the UK side at 'London AMU'.

Re: Cyprus Post Problems

Thanks for sharing Trev. That sounds like a similar story to my experience. Parcel leaves international country and doesn't show as arriving in Cyprus.

Cyprus Post Problems

I had an important tracked letter sent from the UK on the 03 January on a supposed 3-5 working day lead time. When I finally found a Royal Mail human yesterday he advised that it had definitely left the UK and was being sent via Larnaca Airport. It has not been receipted there and he advised that th...

Re: Yellow weather warning: storms, hail on the way (Updated)

One of the reasons we came to live in Cyprus was we were told that the sun shone occasionally. Been here a bit over a month and I think its wetter than the UK. 😂

On a serious note all this rain has to be good news. Hopefully fill up the dams and also give us a beautiful green Spring.

Re: New Years Eve Fireworks

I think you mean Duomo? Their food is very good, and if you take proof you live in Cyprus I think you get a discount card or something. https://www.paphoslife.com/directory/entry/duomo That's the one. Thanks for the hint re proof living in Cyprus. No MEU1 yet, still a UK licence. What if they accep...

Re: New Years Eve Fireworks

Can't afford to partake in the Elysium's dinner at between EUR110 and EUR175pp but it might be a plan to settle in to a nearby restaurant/bar and maybe see some of the fireworks as a 'non-Elysium visitor'. Thanks ApusApus.

Thanks Flossie. That matches my research unfortunately.

Does anybody know if there will be any fireworks displays tomorrow night? If yes, details would be much appreciated.

Cyprus Conscription

I understand that military service is mandatory for all male citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. It's also mandatory for any male non-citizens born of a parent of Greek Cypriot descent. Relevant ages seem to be 18 to 50. To exit the country these people seem to need an Exit Visa. As a 46 year old (s...

Re: Struggling to find a rental home

I'd just like to express my sincere thanks to all those that offered help/advice on this thread and via PM's. We have settled on a lovely home in good condition in Kamares which should hopefully be a good first step in helping us make sure Paphos is for us. Next I find out how much electricity costs...

Re: Struggling to find a rental home

Thanks so much for the help so far. From the recommendations both directly and via PM we now have 3 viewings set up for tomorrow. We also have had some calls and fired off some emails in response to those. Still not there but feels like a bit of progress where in the last 3 days it's felt like our w...

Re: Struggling to find a rental home

If you are on Facebook this seems to be the best place for looking for rentals or actually going to the rental offices because not all properties are advertised on websites and many are not updated regularly. Just up from Kato Paphos harbour there are a few rental agents. A good free newspaper call...

Re: Struggling to find a rental home

Hi Robert We moved over to Cyprus at the end of September and contacted a website called onlinecyprus.com, the house I called them about had gone but they found us a different house which is great and actually better than the first, I think your budget is more than enough as we are paying 750 for a...

Struggling to find a rental home

Well we're in Paphos and it all begins. We have medical insurance for my wife sorted but I'm being delayed while I wait for a standard procedure medical report before they'll finalise a quote. We have also found a car with Andy Phillips. Just want to sleep on it before doing the deal. Where we are s...
