Re: CNN reports of a Glog=bal Recession looming

Interesting
The Treasury has moved billions of sterling into the failing Euro prior to Brexit, I wonder why?

Re: Moving OIL RIG off the coast

It most probably has bow thrusters which holds it in position using GPS when it's drilling. These are not usually for moving the rig from one location to another. The water is usually too deep where they're drilling to use anchors so they use bow thrusters. I lived on a crane barge called the Hermod...

Re: Moving OIL RIG off the coast

A tug could be tied off against the rig, easier to control rather than using a tow rope. That way you only need one tug.

I've lived and worked on a number of them over the years both in the North Sea and the Gulf. That type is a semi submersible which floats on submerged pontoons. They usually use tugs to move them. As Aquilla wrote, it's a drilling rig.

Re: Are airlines tracking YOU?

I usually do a flight search on one computer and book the one I want on another. As said the Cookies track your searches so if you use another computer to book there's no tracking history.

Cooking Sheets

My wife has been trying to buy heat resistant sheets that cover the bottom of the oven trays or can be used used on a BBQ. We bought some from Lidl a while a go but they now need replacing.; does any one know where they can be bought.

Many Thanks

Re: Dental implants

I had an accident several years ago and had eight of my top teeth knocked out. I saw Doctor Eleni who's surgery is in the Liminara complex opposite the Alexander the Great Hotel. She replaced the eight teeth with implants and did an excellent job. She is a dental surgeon trained in South Africa; ver...

Re: 2019 a difficult year for tourism but no need to panic, Deputy Minister says

Our daughter told me the hotel she works in on TOTK road has been quieter than usual the last 3 months and has only started getting busy this last week and the son in law who works in one of the 5 star hotels said they had 50 empty rooms last month which is unheard of.

It's just above his post where he had his "Road to Damascus" moment when he realised he was wrong and has now become a born again Remainer. ;-)

Re: The ongoing madness which is Brexit...

Thank you Firefly. Always glad when you brighten up this "slough of despond" with your feisty posts. Jon. I'm certain John Bunyan would have jumped into the slough of despond with us Remainers. Reading posts from people in total denial is enough to make anyone want to dive head first into the bog o...

Re: The ongoing madness which is Brexit...

Jim When we lived in Cyprus, quite a few years ago, I well remember the Euro having parity with Sterling, if that happened now, remainers would be screaming BREXIT. Currencies fluctuate they always will, and no shortage of medication here. The pound has never actually reached parity with the Euro (...

Harry If your suggesting I'm spreading malicious rumours then I've pasted a definition of what scaremongering actually means. I'm telling people how it really is and not how I wish it or want it to be. Fact: presently there is no signed post Brexit agreement between Cyprus and the UK. There maybe a ...

It really does not matter what anyone 'Rekons'.. No one will know until it is sorted and the officials let us know of any changes..
Trev
Totally agree, no one knows what's going to happen but suggestions by some that it's all sorted is misleading.
