Re: Armou

Lived there for fifteen years and love it. Very quiet and everywhere is very accessible. About 7 kilometres to the harbour and there is a bus service several times a day but a car is advisable as the bus is infrequent. Theres a small kiosk at the entrance to the village. Jim Forgot to say, the villa...

Re: MPs use House Brexit debate to push ouster of British bases

Varky Read the books; history is always a viewpoint generally from the victors and trying to get an unbiased opinion on Cyprus is next to impossible. The British Governer at the time stated Britain would never relinquish Cyprus, you can confirm that in the Cyprus Conspiracy. I would agree with WHL i...

Re: MPs use House Brexit debate to push ouster of British bases

Varky Try reading "The Cyprus Conspiracy" by Brendan O'Mally and Ian Craig; you can buy it on Amazon. The British were going to hang on to the SBA's at the time, come what may. You could also try reading "Glfkos Clerides, The Path of a Country" by Niyazi Kizilyurek; also available on Amazon. No coun...

Re: MPs use House Brexit debate to push ouster of British bases

Yes, but they agreed that the UK could keep the Sovereign Bases when the rest of the Island was handed over to Cypriot rule. I don't think the ROC had much say in the matter; a question of take it or leave it. Jim I didn't know that you were present at the negotiations at the time? As WHL wrote, it...

My Dad was in the Royal Navy and seconded to Combined Ops. were he was a Coxwain on a Landing Craft that took American Troops ashore at Omaha Beach. Yes, the British were at Omaha and in the first wave that hit the beach. He never spoke about it much but told my younger sister the one memory that st...

Re: Bank accounts and transfers to UK.

I usually use Transferwise to send money to our account in Cyprus from the UK, recently I tried to send money from another Cypriot account to our daughters bank account and was blocked as Transferwise said I was only allowed to register one bank account per person.

Holitec Funny enough my cars are insured with AIG as is our house and our medical insurance is with PPP. As the saying goes. "Rome wasn't built in a day" and it's the same with the introduction of services across the EU. The top and bottom of it is money brokers want out because they're not happy wi...

Re: Can things get worse?

Jackie There's not that many countries or unions with large populations who want to purchase the high tech equipment or services the UK provides so the markets are very limited. Russia is third work outside the major cities as is China and India so the markets the UK provides to are very limited. We...

Re: Can things get worse?

So we have to refuse ! Jackie As the old addage goes, "Beggars can't be choosers" and that's the position the UK is finding itself in. The likes of Liam Fox is desperate for a trade deal with the USA and will sell off the NHS and lower food standards to get it. Leavers have voted to regain sovereig...

You can buy Aphrodites Rock craft beers, they sell dark beers. Kozel is tasty and is sold in most shops though for local beer I prefer Leon.

Re: Can things get worse?

Jim I don't know if you recall the screams and complaints of interference by leavers prior to the referendum when President Obama suggested the UK would be at the back of the queue with regards to trade negotiations. Nearly 3 years on Pesident Trump is interfering in Brexit, favouring certain candid...

Re: Can things get worse?

As Leavers tell us, they ALL knew what they voted for; it's good to know they were aware that the NHS would be a negotiating chip to obtain a a trade deal with the USA. I hope they can all afford the insurance payments. I'm aware the article is from the guardian but it is available from many other m...

Re: Meu 3 yet again(sorry)

MU3 is issued to EU citizens and their non EU dependents but are only valid for 10 years for the dependents. An MU2 is issued to non EU citizens. As stated earlier UK citizens will more than likely have to apply for an MU2 if there's a Brexit.

Always go through a Lawyer. A deposit is usually between a thousand and five thousand Euro. Some agencies take the deposit to close the deal and pass on the money to the lawyer and others advise the clients to let the lawyers handle the money. My wife took clients to their Lawyers office's on severa...

Re: Can things get worse?

HIC You beat me to the post on the gifts from Arron Banks; it appears the EU is looking into it as a matter of urgency as it appears Farage has broken the rules by failing to declare any of them. Brexiteers are now calling for Farage to lead exit negociations; you couldn't make it up. I attached ano...
