Re: Replacement double glazing patio doors

When I wanted soundproofing (in Germany though) I was told there are 5 grades of glass/windows. Grade 1 you might use for a greenhouse and grade 5 for a hotel next to the airport runway. I´d try to find out whether there is a similar grading system in Cyprus.

Re: Coved booster

The STIKO, the German committee on vaccinations advising the health ministry, explicitly said that there is no increased risk resulting from coadministration of flu- and corona-jabs.

I´ve tried to get in touch with him again, but to no avail. I´ve been pleased with his service so I´might use it again. Do you (or anybody) know what´s going on with him?

Lawyer specializing in law of building contracts

I´d like to buy a premanufactured (or at least partly premanufactured) house. In preparation for that I bought a (German) book which among others covers the law on building contracts (or at least some important aspects of it). Reading these chapters made me aware of that I might be stepping into a m...

Re: Cyprus lagging in reuse of recycled materials

Are there even consumer associations in Cyprus? Yes, there are – perhaps too many of them! Maybe, instead of a snide question, you had taken the time to do a quick Internet check, you would have found http://www.easterncyprus.com/archive/cyprus-consumer-protection-260.htm It wasn´t a snide question...

Re: Cyprus lagging in reuse of recycled materials

Agreed jeba , it's only a deposit, it's returnable , make it a euro if that's what it takes to shift the lazy people Do you think that the consumer associations would not scream if a pack of 6×1.5 L went up from, say, €1.80 all the way to €7.80? I don't know. You shouldn't forget to mention though ...

Re: Cyprus lagging in reuse of recycled materials

I'm sorry but your "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles" attitude doesn't go down too well here or in a number of other countries. Please be careful when comparing what goes on in Germany when outside. To get back to the subject, imagine a family picnic on the beach well away from any building. Now...

Re: Quotes without VAT

You could always just ask if it includes VAT. Based on my assumption that prices given in a brochure (for drawing construction plans, land surveyor etc.) have to include VAT it hadn't occurred to me that VAT might not be included and I spent several hours with them planning/discussing my new home (...

Tax returns for everyone need to be enforced
I disagree. Why should e.g. a holder of a S1 form who doesn´t have to pay for Gesy have to file a tax return unless he has taxable income?

Re: Cyprus lagging in reuse of recycled materials

It's not just the money that is the incentive; in a country which is noted for people not using their feet to walk, 200 m is already too far to justify a return of the deposit. You wouldn't have to extra walk anywhere, you could just return it when you replace your empty bottles with full ones. E. ...

Re: Changes to GESY presciptions

What seems safe to say in my view is that the current funding will prove to be insufficient. A contribution of 2.65% of your salary is ridiculously low. Just for comparison: the equivalent in Germany is 15% (plus some more for nursing care insurance). And public health insurance companies are alrea...

Re: Cyprus lagging in reuse of recycled materials

The very least and easy to do thing would be introducing a deposit on plastic bottles. That way they wouldn´t be found littering the landscape at least. You haven't been in Cyprus very long, have you? Many people would simply leave their empty bottle, rather than be bothered to collect it's worth! ...

Is it legal in Cyprus to give retail customers quotes which don´t include VAT? Isn´t there an EU regulation banning that practice?

For items you used to buy from Amazon I can recommend that you now use Amazon Germany (Amazon.de.com).
I think you need to leave out the .com at the end.

I appliedf or a MEU3 and when they contacted me I asked whether I could have it in card format I was told that this was only available for non-EU citizens. So my guess is that Brits can have the card format.

I'm not so sure EVs really are the way to go. Why not use regenerative fuels like biodiesel or ethanol? For those you could keep the existing infrastructure and wouldn't have to worry about flat batteries.

Re: Air Pump

Basically, aircons areheat pumps, too. I've hardly ever used my central heating but rather my aircons for heating (pv- powered though). What I'm wondering is whether you could use your aircon for underfloor heating (at least in addition, so that you don't get cold feet).
