Re: 2019 a difficult year for tourism but no need to panic, Deputy Minister says

What might help is creating awareness for animal wellbeing and improving the situation regarding stray cats and dogs. There are tourists who are deterred from visiting Cyprus because of the amount of uncared for stray animals. That´s something which spoils their visits.

Re: Road deaths in EU

Not sure it makes sense to base such a comparison on fatalities per capita rather than per kilometers driven or at least cars registered.

Oh I know Jim, apparently leave doesn’t actually mean that for some “R” voters........
Apparently, for some "leave the EU" actually means "leave the EU + the common market + the customs union".

They realise immigration makes a country richer and better!
Not sure the American Indians or Mayas would agree. Or Australian aborigines. Just to name a few.

Re: Law allows Brits to live in Cyprus in case of no deal Brexit

Does that mean Brits with a S1 form can join GESY even in case of a no-deal scenario without having to pay contributions?

I wonder how many of those "new" residents are Brits who never saw a reason to bother with getting a MEU 1 but decided to register as residents now because of Brexit?

Re: Mobile phone links established between two sides

What does this mean in practise? Will you be billed for calls to the North like for domestic calls? Will there be free roaming like within EU countries? Will you no longer be charged exorbitant rates in case your cell accidentally uses the Northern data network?

If I remember correctly dental treatment is currently not covered by GESY but will only be added to the cover next year.

Re: UK - NHS doctors vote to stop charging overseas patients

Thanks for that Jeba, we did all caution her on this before she went, but her family was telling her that she would be entitled to treatment so she went along with them. Seven weeks later the uk NHS are still prevaricating, their prerogative. She just wasn't prepared to listen to reason, had she st...

Re: UK - NHS doctors vote to stop charging overseas patients

I´m not sure about the situation for expat Brits back in the UK but I read that your EHIC card (I guess she has a Cypriot one) by default only covers unexpected treatment in a member state you´re not resident in (like a travel insurance). You can´t simply choose to get treatment in another EU countr...

Re: 20 Years - that's how long it can take to make trade deals

Yet die-hard Brexiteers would have you believe that in the event of a No Deal, deals could be put together in the blink of an eye and that economies worldwide will be falling over themselves to do trade deals with the UK. Correct me if I´m wrong but as I understand from this interview in contrast t...

Could Charis of Red Tape Resolved help !! I was always under the impression that if there wasn’t any tenancy agreement ..... the landlord held all the cards I would have thought that the mere fact that a tenant was living at a place and paid rent means that there was a verbal contract in place whic...

If the 5Kw system is insufficient for our needs, we have been told further panels can be installed at a later date.
That's not always possible. I wanted to enlarge my 4kWp system and was told the EAC wouldn't allow it.

My layman's opinion is that you need to look at eviction. However you really need proper legal advice, as that isn't necessarily easy.
Chances are it won´t help in the short run. A lawyer I know told me he´s been trying for 12 years to evict a non-paying tenant of his.

Re: landlord/tennant dispute.

What about allowing him to sublet part of the property or look for a housemate he can share the rent with? Maybe that would allow him to pay rent and would make the place more sellable without exposing him to undue hardship?

Ive been here thirty years and I havent seen one Bird of Prey, so I think thats a weak argument Are you sure chicken don´t have that instinct because you haven´t seen a bird of prey? One of my daughter´s pet rabbits was killed by a bird of prey - granted, that was in Germany though. Im sure any ani...

Jeba before you came to live in Cyprus, did you find out if you could get your medications in Cyprus, If you found out they were not available here, what provision did you make to obtain them? from elsewhere. I don´t need medication for myself. I needed it for someone else who was visiting. If I ne...

Re: Cyprus has the highest prices in Europe for milk, cheese and eggs

All supermarkets/Lidls etc sellfree rangee eggs. That may be so but the questions is what they regard free-range. It could be that the hens are able to roam freely for only 30 min/day or have no bushes/trees for cover so that they´re too scared to roam around (as they instictlvely want to be able t...

Not a good sign that some of the listed medications are not even on the island and that people are having to pay for a dearer alternative.
If they´re lucky and there is an alternative. That´s not always the case though.
