Re: Blue Cross Retirement Home - Mesa Chorio
I posted this originally over 6 years ago - no idea why someone should answer now! My mother has had a Filipina carer at home for over 5 years and now lives in the Panayia Maria care home in Chloraka as her condition has gradually worsened. She is very happy and very well cared for there so I can co...

Try calling Haris 99675346 I’ve been using him for over 25 years, he used to do all the repairs for Savvas Eracleous electrical shop (not sure if he still does).
He usually comes the same day and his charges are very reasonable.

Re: Starting school advice - English speaking 4 year old
My daughter was 3 when we cameto Cyprus - she’s now 31 so possibly things have changed, but she went to a private nursery in the mornings, then to a state kindergarten when she was 5, Cypriot children start ‘proper’ school at 6 and she was transferred there automatically after the compulsory year at...

Re: “No couriers” … Scam?
I've sold lots of things on Facebook here and I don't think it's a scam, just very inconvenient. Usually the buyer calls to collect their item and pays cash - all done and dusted, but if they don't live in Paphos and want it sent by courier, you have to package the item, deliver to the courier offic...

I remember in the late 90’s sending my husband to get a number at immigration around 7.30am, he then came home and went back with my young daughter and I complete with a picnic breakfast/brunch, we usually made it home before lunchtime! One of the immigration officers - young and obviously quite new...

Paphos Care Homes
Unfortunately the time has come for my elderly mother who suffers from dementia to go into a care home - she has had an excellent Filipina carer in her own home for 5 years but now needs more care. Please can anyone who has had experience of any of the homes (Not Blue Cross in Mesa Chorio as I alrea...

Filipina Carer for Elderly
I have an excellent Filipina carer for my mother and her sister is also in Cyprus, she isn't happy in her current position working for a Cypriot family and would really like to work for English people. She is completely legal and registered with an appropriate employment agency who are doing their b...

We have also never had a good meal at the Last Castle - the souvla has always been dry and only just edible. The views from there are fantastic but there are other places far better

Re: price of carrots
Think you’ll find these type of carrots are also expensive in the UK, as are the small different coloured varieties, worth buying for a special occasion if you only want a few and want to recreate a restaurant dish

Re: ROC stopping UK Expats from North visiting.
I remember the English owner of the accommodation we stayed in several months ago telling us that you had to pay road tax when crossing from north to south and that the rules had changed for UK passport holders that they could only tax vehicles for 1 day at a time. Her main problem with that was she...

The citizens centre will give you the form then it needs to go to your doctor for completion, I think I then sent the form to the address on it (prob Nicosia) with a photo, it came back pretty quick. Be careful though - my mother’s carer parked in the mall last week and they managed to forget to dis...

I apologise if I'm being a bit dense here but does anyone know if this move would have any implications for us travelling to the North and Turkey?

If you’re going to another country on holiday, you buy travel insurance, it’s not expensive (I paid £6.48 for one adult and one child for a week) you are then covered - why would anyone go on holiday without it?

If your item was ordered from M&S Cyprus abd charged in Euros I would have thought this pricealready included customs duty and VAT, just as if buying from the store here if the goods were available

I don’t think being racist or not comes into it - the latest immigrants who just happen to be of African descent appear to be predominantly young men - if a large number of young men are thrown together with nothing to occupy them and presumably little money, then there will eventually be trouble of...

Re: Health Ministry reminds use of protective mask mandatory indoors
I picked my daughter up from Paphos Airport this afternoon and of all the passengers arriving on 6 flights within 20 minutes very few were wearing masks - it would appear that they didn’t know it was still mandatory here, surely an announcement either on board prior to landing or in arrivals would b...

Re: Car insurance Europe
We used the ferries twice when they were previously operating - a long time ago but we were insured by Atlantic at the time and from what I remember they covered us, so maybe worth asking them or just other local insurers, alternatively maybe the AA could point you in the right direction as we used ...

Yes I remember paying £250 return in the late 80’s early 90’s and thinking that was a bargain with Cyprus Airways Manchester Paphos, whilst I would love to go back to the old days in terms of service and being able to carry whatever I wantedin hand luggage, those days are unfortunately over - being ...
