JB - you don’t need a Cyprus mobile.
You need a Cyprus sim to use the SMS payment, surely, as the money is charged to your phone bill, which presumably passes it onto Paphos Municipality.

If you use the app and your debit/credit card, then the sim country shouldn't matter.

Re: Best snorkelling areas

Latchi is great. As Dominic said, Aphrodite's beach for sure. There's also Ttakkas beach a little before that (I see a turtle there around 50% of the time) and there's also a lovely cove between the 2 - you have to drive across a field (there's a path) and then hike down to the little beach - gorgeo...

Re: Concerns mount over Paphos road project setbacks

I'm not convinced. It's a general rule that most traffic is local. The red plates are a small (if annoying) minority of vehicles, but there are very large numbers of locals who plough between Polis and Paphos every day. Many people live in one area and commute to the other. Courier companies and th...

Re: Concerns mount over Paphos road project setbacks

:( :( :( :( :( As someone who lives in Anarita and loves snorkelling at Latchi in summer, I can't wait for this road to be ready. Hearing about these massive set backs was really disappointing. Hope they can get it moving again, and obviously for the people who live up there. Not to mention the part...

Re: Travel Medication

I can't answer your specific question about the general hospital travel clinic but I know from speaking to my GP that you cannot get Malarone malaria tablets in Cyprus (or the generic version) and they're the ones I like to take since you don't need to take them for as long and they haven't given me...

For example I cannot remember any night in April was so hot as last night with 28c until dawn. No wonder I woke up so many times.

Same here, and I've been here 20 years (and Malta all my life before that). I normally haven't got fans out yet and last night I put the a/c on. It's crazy.

I love it here, the monastery and the surrounds, which ever way you approach it from.

The only people I've seen nearby are goatherds - so peaceful.

Re: Picking up at Paphos Airport

You still cannot drive directly in front of the terminal building, but can go into the car park (p2) as before and i believe its £1 Euro for up to 20 mins. 8-) It's free if you're just dropping off / picking up, you don't even need to go to the ticket machine, you collect a ticket on the way in but...

Re: Excitement at Troodos peak?

It's nice to see even a bit of snow once a winter, well for me anyway. It makes a nice change. When we had the good layer of snow it would have been too busy up there. On a good snow year you can wait till the novelty has worn off a bit, but the last 2 years have been too warm for that. A little sno...

It looks like it was pretty bad there - ‘Biblical damage’ in Limassol following intense weather overnight Intense weather overnight, including at least two tornados, resulted in scenes dubbed as “biblical destruction” in Limassol on Wednesday. Great stories Devil, I look forward to the next instalment.

I liked the extra Malta element (well, except for it being a negative experience) since I'm Maltese :)

I never tested this myself but as she loved the Island so much I am sure there was a little bit of embellishment at times ?? It's quite possible to do both in a day, I've never done it because I don't like rushing so much on my precious weekends and once I've driven up to Troodos I like to enjoy my...

Re: Today's weather: Stormy, orange warning in place

Seriously? In Anarita earlier and now here in town it's very grey and cloudy (Tsada is hidden behind clouds) and windy. I could feel the wind pushing my car as I drove across the motorway bridge.

While I love our sunny and often warm winter days, it's nice to have a bit of winter for a change.

Re: Mandria Murals

I enjoy driving through it, it's so nice and colourful. You get a glimpse of the colour too as drive across the bridge on the motorway. The fountain used to be at the entrance to the square, but I believe was removed when the square was revamped a couple of years ago. It's still on the village logo ...
