Re: Easter Opening Hours.

Yes, I think all supermarkets will be closed on Sunday and Monday. There may be limited or full hours on Saturday - best to go early.

Alphamega has its holiday hours on its Facebook page, but Papantoniou relies on sticking print-outs to its doors (closed Sun and Mon). Paps is quite old-fashioned!

Re: Concerns mount over Paphos road project setbacks

I'm not convinced. It's a general rule that most traffic is local. The red plates are a small (if annoying) minority of vehicles, but there are very large numbers of locals who plough between Polis and Paphos every day. Many people live in one area and commute to the other. Courier companies and the...

Re: Concerns mount over Paphos road project setbacks

When the first stage is completed, I wonder how many people will use it. Assuming most journeys to Polis start in Paphos rather than rather than coming from the motorway, will people bother driving out to Agia Marinouda just to drive along another two-lane road to Polemi, which will likely be no fas...

They've had every opportunity to solve it so far but haven't. Hopefully the bad publicity will provoke a more meaningful response.

Re: Ancestry DNA

There's the issue of these companies handing over your genetic information to law enforcement agencies and other third parties around the world without your permission. You might not mind, but your relatives (including distant ones that you don't even know exist) may. Even if you're happy with the c...

Re: British in bad books!

The UN peacekeeping mission and the sovereign bases are two different things. Of the 801 UN peacekeepers, 257 are British. The bases have nothing to do with Turkey and were here long before 1974. They are a British interest and don't contribute to the defence of Cyprus. Cyprus is constitutionally ob...

Re: Traffice light cameras

That may work in the Netherlands, but in Cyprus where the standard of driving is pretty low, but the tendency to speed is common, bends in the road planted densely with trees could increase the number of fatal road accidents. Traffic calming measures are dangerous, folks! You read it here first! Th...

Re: Traffice light cameras

The 30 km/h roads here also feel very slow and almost no one sticks to that limit. The Mesogi road is the same at 50 km/h and is a perfect example of a stroad . Sticking up a sign with a number on it will never effectively control traffic speed, any more than Cyprus's many stop signs make people sto...

Nearly all of the RoC's drinking water comes from desalination already. There are five desalination plants.

My village council recently replaced the road signs and the new ones all bear a photo of a suspiciously lush green landscape. A quick reverse image search revealed a stock photo from Germany.

the taxi parking area which is located immediately after the road leading towards the entrance of the terminal building
I think that means the red area below, though Google Maps has it tagged as rental car parking.

Re: High-speed transport

Yes, Cyprus would definitely benefit from a train system. Ideally you'd be able to get from Polis to Paralimni by rail. Tram systems in Nicosia and the three towns could be integrated with the trains. I believe the government has mooted the idea in the past and looked into EU funding. Will it ever h...

Re: Re: Jumbo's refunds

As for refunds, Cyprus may belong to the EU, but I don't believe that they like to abide by EU rules. In the EU cars are required an MOT after 4 years then every 2 years after that. The UK requires an MOT after 3 years and every year after that, it has never changed even when part of the EU. Its a ...

The policy should have specified billing periods rather than actual months, given that you never know when the EAC will read your meter.
