Re: Recommendations for Inverter Aircon Suppliers

Can highly recommend the aircon shop about 100m down from the Home Market, on the RHS, corner shop. They do a range of brands. Advice is good. We had a problem with a Mitsubishi a/c after it had run out of warranty (bought from them) and they insisted the manufacturer supply a replacement part F.O.C...

Re: Cypriot serial killer given seven life sentences

You're quite right Mike, and that would entirely explain why the case was wrapped up so quickly: an admission of guilt from the accused.

Re: Doctors overloaded weeks after Gesy launch

Agree Trev, but it behoves such receptionists to fully acquaint themselves with the workings of the GESY system, so that they do not give out erroneous advice and send prospective patients on wild goose chases. The other paediatrician in Paphos, who my daughter has used for the past 11 years, refuse...

Re: landlord/tennant dispute.

I suspect the only person who could offer authoritative advice this would be a lawyer specialising in Cyprus tenancy laws. Anything any of us might say would be little more than speculation and personal opinion.

Re: Cypriot serial killer given seven life sentences

Words still fail. What's surprising is that the killer had two kids of his own. I wonder how he would have reacted had someone had killed his ex-wife and then bumped his kids off. One can only hope that, karma-like, his kids never want anything to do with him again. Remarkable too how quick this cas...

Re: Doctors overloaded weeks after Gesy launch

My daughter is a bit of an expert on GESY now  She has been to hell and back over the past two weeks, getting her kids set up with a paediatrician. Apparently kids up to the age of 18 can elect to see a paediatrician instead of a GP...and I believe up to the age of 15 are required to. However, ...

Just another example of why we are becoming sick and tired of the stupid rules and regulations we are expected to abide by here.

Yeah...and without a single unelected EU bureaucrat in sight

Re: TORTA PARADISO (PARADISE CAKE)

Hi Kay. I won't make the same mistake cutting it again. I used a supposedly specific tool for the task, looked a bit like a flimsy hacksaw. I chucked it in the bin afterwards because it was rubbish. I have since ordered one of these little gems from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B072MZ...

TORTA PARADISO (PARADISE CAKE)

I came across this recipe in a newspaper article on Easter food. Author Skye McAlpine described the cake as: “slices of cloudlike, lemony sponge layered with ambrosial, honey-scented whipped cream are close to heaven on a plate”. Sounded tempting and easy enough to bake, but using the recipe as give...

he was the only one not truly committed to Brexit

That at least indicates he has a brain and can think for himself, and was not taken in by self-serving twerps like Farage and Boris.

A plus point wouldn't you say 8-)

Knowing you Jackie, perhaps not

Re: Rory Stewart gets the Hedgehog Vote

Front pages of all today's papers are majoring on the blazing 10 minute late night row between Boris and partner, who apparently told Boris to "get off her" and to leave her flat. Police were called by a neighbour, but charges were not pressed. With two failed marriages behind him and apparent tensi...

Re: Cyprus has the highest prices in Europe for milk, cheese and eggs

It's easy to forget that Cyprus and Greece, by virtue of their hot, dry, mid-East climate do not have the green, verdant pastures which much of Europe enjoys...and as a consequence the millions of cows which graze on them. I mean, how often do we see cows here? Ipso facto, dairy products which arise...

Re: Tourism season means increased crime

Your advice is good Dee, but the problem remains that whatever precautions the holidaymaker takes, the security of the house is only as good as the landlord has made it. Holidaymakers are especially vulnerable and targeted.

Re: Spate of burglaries In Pahos & Peyia

Surely it cannot be as bad as the Uk and other European countries? Still one of the safest places to live in my opinion. Agreed, with 3 stabbings in London last week alone and over 40 stabbings in London in the first 5 months of the year, Cyprus is an absolute safe-haven compared to the UK and many...

Re: Rory Stewart gets the Hedgehog Vote

First time I've really watched or listened to Rory Stewart, but have to say that he was head and shoulders above the other contenders in the C4 debate last night. A real breath of fresh air; a genuine and humble man, and a great orator. I found Gove made me want to vomit, so smarmy and patronising a...
