Re: Confused dot com

But T.Cook's demise over several years didn't stop the directors trousering wads of the company's limited resources. Same old, same old ;) https://uk.news.yahoo.com/thomas-cook-bosses-received-20m-201403882.html The article relates many causes for Thomas Cook's failure...and I would agree that Brexi...

Re: Dinning chairs reupholstering.

I've used both of the upholsterers in G'pou and also Bernie of Busy Bees. If I wanted a really nice job doing I would definitely go to Busy Bees...if a cheap job, Riccos. Riccos did some office chairs for me recently; the material used wasn't the best, but it was adequate. For stuff in the home, def...

Re: Moody's changes outlook to 'positive' on better fiscal and lower risks

Yes, excellent news, I meant to post this story the other day. Not only has Cyprus repaid the 4 billion Russian loan from 2013 (?) early, but it is also paying off it's other debts ahead of time. Well done Cyprus in general and the Finance Minister in particular. And yes, I know we're not completely...

Re: Confused dot com

Possibly because the Remain camp started Project Fear with lots of doom mongering which turned out to be untrue.   I can only infer from the above that you're not in tune with current affairs in the UK. Almost everything which was forecast to happen since the vote has happened. But ...

Paphos and Cyprus on BGT

With the return of Stavros Flatley to "Britains Got Talent - The Champions" last night Cyprus and Paphos got a whole bunch of publicity. Not least because a map of Cyprus was emblazoned on the chests of both father and son. The act was received with rapturous applause and deservedly won Simon Cowell...

Re: Title Deeds - Source of Purchase Funds

A sensible lady, your wife, WHL. And we do the same. You just never know when you might need proof of something, not least for insurers. And even more so after the UK leaves the EU, if you decide to return to the UK with your personal possessions.

Re: Does David Cameron regret the referendum...

Outasite, I'm pleased to report that my son has seen the error of his ways and no longer thinks the sun shines out of Trump's backside as he once did. And the manner in which he described arch-Brexiteer Boris to me last week was quite shocking. He once supported Brexit, while his wife didn't. He's l...

Re: Title Deeds - Source of Purchase Funds

We got our Deeds 2-3 years ago and were not required to provide proof.

But it's a fact of life that money-laundering regulations are getting tighter all the time.

Re: UK state pension

Without any reference to long-term commitment, I can't think why this is even a news story. The SMS I received simply said that you would carry on getting your UK state pension after the UK leaves the EU on 31st Oct; which is about as obvious as it gets, and a waste of an SMS.

Re: Does David Cameron regret the referendum...

I seem to remember that the Politics for Moderates section died a death the last time. Despite what the so-easily-offended snowflakes claim, peeps like the cut and thrust of the Politics section. It's a bit like tabloid newspapers: people decry lurid stories of sex, crime and violence...but that's w...

Re: Does David Cameron regret the referendum...

Dominic, I don't intend to change the content of my posts, or my posting style - in which I do at least try to inject a touch of humour, clearly missed by some sensitive snowflakes, and not taking umbrage like others claim to. I could have complained to you about many of the comments made about me e...

Re: YellowHammer Docs releases

Jim, I said that in a response to Dominic on another thread. Gove claimed it was 'worst case' so as not to frighten the kiddies. As I also said somewhere else, Boris and Gove wrote the book on lying. Still, I suppose one of the pre-requisitites to being a politician is the ability to lie barefacedly.

Re: Confused dot com

Wasn't everyone as appalled as I was by Boris's performance in Luxembourg yesterday? What a disgrace of a Prime Minister. Despite repeatedly voicing platitudes about 'progress being made' and 'a deal being in sight', Boris took with him not one concrete proposal for overcoming the Irish Backstop pro...

Good! Excellent product. I'll also stock up on the potato croquettes, light and good. 3-4 mins in a deep fryer at low temp (160°C is good). Just checked with the wife because I assumed that that was what we had brought from Lidl...and which I adore. But she says it is Potato Gratin we like - not th...
