Re: What happens if someone needs a plumber?

Obviously Lloyd don't know all the advantages of a solar driven pool pump as he does not own one himself. One could even consider to save big bucks for a pool cleaning company if his neighbour for example looks twice a month in his absence after his pool and add some water or put some tabs. Max, in...

Re: What happens if someone needs a plumber?

Max, you overlook the fact that many pool owners do not live in Cyprus, and of those that do, many do not have the prior knowledge, or chemicals, or physical ability to clean the pool. This is not about using an alternative form of energy, but the fact that with rising temperatures, pools will go gr...

Re: What happens if someone needs a plumber?

Well, it is essential Neil, as this is a Health and Safety issue. Temps are due to rise next week...and having a mass of green pools after 3 weeks of non-treatment is not in anyone's best interests. We don't do pool cleaning, but a pool cleaning company we work with have checked with government and ...

Alternative Medicine

As a by the by, for the last 50 years, following an accident in which 3 lower vertebrae were cracked/crushed I've suffered with back pain and discomfort - to a greater or lesser degree. Except for quite rare occasions I've always refused to take painkillers, as I just don't want to go down that rout...

Re: Boris Johnson tests positive for Coronavirus.

No test unless you are hospitalised. Our figures being given out are not real. They have known for 2 months this was coming for us and they haven't paid out the money for PPE kit or testing for medical staff who are looking after the worst cases. Not testing, tracking and tracing (like they do in C...

Re: Post office says parcels to be delivered as from Tuesday

Do isolate the letters and parcels for 72 hours and wash hands after touching! I suspect that viruses on any letters and parcels in the Cyprus postal system will have long since been dead and buried  Must admit that on the most recent order from Amazon my wife did wipe down the box and content...

Re: Boris Johnson tests positive for Coronavirus.

Mr Johnson was last seen on Thursday night, as he clapped outside No 10 as part of a nationwide gesture to thank NHS staff. Shame he didn't plan ahead a month ago, so as to be able to provide these stalwarts with the PPE and testing kits they so desperately need. Clip on News at 10 last night showe...

Re: What happens if someone needs a plumber?

Should not be a problem. I received an email late last night from a UK neighbour to say that workmen would be coming to fix a problem on his house today. The workmen (no more than two) simply need to have the government form filled in by their employer, carry ID and ideally wear gloves and mask. The...

Re: World population

The other day I read that some expert somewhere claimed this virus was a consequence of Climate Change. Absolute rollocks. If so, what caused the far more devastating Spanish Flu in 2018? WW1 I suppose

No need to resort to arms. From recent boasts I thought you had another member which might provide the leverage you need?

Re: A different subject from you know what!

With crude oil hovering between $25-30 a barrel compared with recent highs of $90+ per barrel, we have every right to expect prices at the pump to come down. However, because garages work on low margins, and with recent forecourt sales down by 40% (will be even lower next 3 weeks), I'll be surprised...

Re: Elean closed until further notice

I was fortunate to pick up a pair of specs from Aresti at Elean on Monday morning. But it occurred to me then that opticians get as intimately close to you as hairdressers do - possibly more so - so any visit to an optician is highly risky.

Re: Cyprus Response re Support for Key Working, Rapairs, Bank Mortgage Holidays etc.

Jim, this is something we have researched as we run a business here and have friends with service-based industries, like pool cleaning. For those who wish to service customers there is a mechanism by which companies can continue to operate. But not from a shop, obviously. You have to download a form...

Over 70 and think your fit? Try this..Lie on your back and get up on your feet without using any part of your arms.Come on,be honest if you try it,let us know how you went on. I can never resist a challenge. Didn't think I would be able to do it, as my lower back and knees are not my best bits. But...

Re: Computer SOS

Our Internet supplier is bemoaning [ rightly so ] that he has lost a lot of money as a large number of his users who come for the summer are not here therefore not using their Internet. He should quit grumbling...his losses are as nothing compared to what restaurant, bar and hotel owners are losing.

Re: Computer SOS

Telly was perfect last night and our internet is lightning speed this morning, though having yesterday installed an SSD to replace my Mac's failed internal HD really helps.
