Re: Confused dot com

About 3-4 weeks ago, didn't someone post a video on here about Rees Mogg's tax evasion tactics (allegedly).

Congratulations HiC, on achieving a rare moment of forum unity. Tut! Tut! I was only joking. Nothing could keep me away from poking sticks at the Brexiteer barnacles   Ooops, I've done it again  so I will celebrate once we leave. Trust me Oakland, if the UK leaves the EU withou...

Re: YellowHammer Docs releases

Jim, I said that in a response to Dominic on another thread. Gove claimed it was 'worst case' so as not to frighten the kiddies. As I also said somewhere else, Boris and Gove wrote the book on lying. Still, I suppose one of the pre-requisitites to being a politician is the ability to lie barefacedly.

Re: Confused dot com

Wasn't everyone as appalled as I was by Boris's performance in Luxembourg yesterday? What a disgrace of a Prime Minister. Despite repeatedly voicing platitudes about 'progress being made' and 'a deal being in sight', Boris took with him not one concrete proposal for overcoming the Irish Backstop pro...

Good! Excellent product. I'll also stock up on the potato croquettes, light and good. 3-4 mins in a deep fryer at low temp (160°C is good). Just checked with the wife because I assumed that that was what we had brought from Lidl...and which I adore. But she says it is Potato Gratin we like - not th...

Re: Cyprus has fifth most expensive bread, cereals in EU28 (table)

Agree Jeba, there are so many factors which determine retail prices. It has been well reported ober the years that the price of petrol in the UK is not determined by how far a town is from a refinery, but rather the perceived wealth of the town. So Cambridge, which is where we came from, had some of...

Re: Confused dot com

As is evident from this Political section, the one thing Brexit has done is gone and split the country into two. One of the most divisive issues of my generation.

And if Scotland and Wales subsequently devolve, was it worth it? If the troubles returns to NI, was it worth it?

Re: Does David Cameron regret the referendum...

This mess is all because he thought his 'project fear' would win, hence he had no need to prepare for Brexit. No, the mess is because twerps who didn't realise what they were voting for were suckered in by the lies of Boris and Farage and voted to leave the EU - our nearest, closest and largest tra...

Thanks for the suggestion Dominic. I did try, but warning came up saying "File too large". With ImgBBB I am given the option of choosing different BB Code upload sizes...and Med seems to work perfectly here, without having to resize the image before uploading. Just done the Torta Paradiso images ton...

Re: Cyprus has fifth most expensive bread, cereals in EU28 (table)

Pay cheap, get rubbish - we pay 1.80 euros for excellent whole grain bread - worth every cent. Why would I want bland, white, awful stuff for 30p from Tesco. 😀 Yes V, my wife pays that for Vitasan wheat-free, whole grain bread from Zorbas. Gorgeous, healthy bread, daughter loves it too. Like you sa...

Malta too is small, but their price for bread & cereals is lower! Surely what goes for Malta, should go for Cyprus!?

Good point. Think you need to start knocking on the doors of all the breadmakers in Cyprus to remind them of the error of their ways

With Tinypic's demise, all the photos which I previously posted in my recipe posts have disappeared :( However, I had anticipated this might happen, so before Tinypic closed down I made printouts of the photos used in each recipe. I am now in the process of restoring the pics using ImgBBB...which ac...

Does David Cameron regret the referendum...

The former prime minister has also admitted that some people will "never forgive him" for calling the 2016 vote. By Tom Gillespie. Friday 13 September 2019 David Cameron said a second Brexit referendum can't be ruled out "because we're stuck" - but admits some people will "never forgive him" for ho...

Re: Cyprus has fifth most expensive bread, cereals in EU28 (table)

There seem to be all sorts of excuses for this.Ranging from Cyprus is a small market, shipping is expensive etc. Aren't those valid reasons though? Mass market = cheap prices, limited market = higher prices? Do you know how much it costs to bring a container from the UK to Cyprus? It runs into thou...

Re: Confused dot com

Operation Yellowhammer was a Worst Case Scenario Analysis. No, it's a realistic assessment of what will happen. Which is why Boris, Gove and Co continually play it down as being "worst case scenario". It is not worst case, because nowhere in the report does it say it is a worst case. The question h...

In any business which imports and exports, a No Deal will have a BIG impact, particularly if that business is located in the UK. One of our significant manufacturers is located in the UK and we anticipate their prices to us rising by at least 10% in the event of a no-deal: 6% Import Duty in Cyprus +...

The claim now is that Boris deceived Her Maj. Yup, can't remember how many times on this forum I have used the words 'shyster', 'charlatan' and 'untrustworthy' to describe Boris Johnston. The truth will out in the end as it always does...and Boris will be seen for what he us: a deceiptful, crooked, ...
