Re: Triple Glazing

Hi Clive, Yes secondary glazing would reduce the sound through an existing window or patio door. I would suggest toughened safety glass for this (if possible), and to minimise the weight of this if fitted to patio doors, I would probably opt for 4mm thickness rather than 6mm. A bit like a glazed fly...

Re: Triple Glazing

Hi, As an ex-Everest Sales Consultant I would point out that triple glazing is all about increased thermal efficiency and has very little impact on noise reduction. In fact, some triple glazing can make noise worse as it can cause vibration in the centre glass panel. The best solution would be acous...

Re: My cars headlights.

Hi Jim,

I’m sure I read on here some years ago that toothpaste with a gentle brushing works.

Maybe try it on a small area first.

Never tried it myself but others may be able to confirm or deny?

Re: Chlorakas-Garbage City Contest

These street artists clearly have talent and have provided us with two alternative compositions for us to marvel at. The scene containing the mattress and foliage is an interesting and thought provoking pairing and the proximity of the green bin with it’s suggestive available capacity provides a par...

Re: Lunch by the coast East of Polis ??

Hi Trev, We are on day 4 of a months’ stay in sunny Cyprus and have eaten at both the Fly Again and Santa Barbara since arriving. Certainly Santa Barbara would get our vote out of the two in terms of both quality and pricing. Sieftalia for me at €12 was particularly good and the other half enjoyed h...

I too would have to think long and hard about all the begging letters after a £184m win………

and that I should probably stop sending them.

Indeed - me included. My point is that whilst things could have gone a lot better, things could have been even worse.

We are where we are I guess.

Re: Brits To Cyprus

A very valid point about Corbyn and particularly Abbott - hounded beyond belief and acceptability. Just makes me wonder though what the government response would have been had they been in power when this previously unknown virus struck, whether the public would have responded in the same way initia...

Re: WW1 War Graves Belgium.

Hi MM,

Sounds like you had a good trip (apart from the issue with the trains).

Out of curiosity, did you use Jacques as your tour guide and stay at the Arianne?

Personally, I would have no hesitation in using both again and would recommend them to anyone planning a similar trip.

Re: WW1 War Graves Belgium.

We travelled from Brussels by train to Ghent and then changed trains to Ypres.
Total journey time from Brussels was about 1 hour 20 so a taxi would be expensive.

Re: WW1 War Graves Belgium.

Hi MM, I have visited Ypres and the Somme 13 times with organised military tours. I would thoroughly recommend staying at the Arianne hotel as I have stayed there many times, most recently in February this year. My wife and I used a local guide who you can contact direct - he was an exceptionally go...

I too find Keo very gassy. My preference would be Leon over Carlsgerg assuming my favourite Mythos was not available.

European City of Culture 2017

Evening all, We will soon be back in Cyprus for the 11th year in a row and can't wait! We are well aware of the much needed improvements in and around Paphos and the time this has all taken, but do you think that Paphos being the European City of Culture has been beneficial in terms of tourist numbe...
