Re: Free healthcare comes at a price

Why have so many people joined Gesy if they do not know the cost(s) of doing so?

It appears from the posts that the situation regarding costs for each persons own individual circumstances are either not known or very unclear.

Re: Drug Haunt near Kings Avenue Mall

I am trained in sex and drugs education (from work in the UK) and was invigilating in Limassol a couple of years ago and was speaking to a Cypriot school teacher and was asking what sex and drugs education there was in Cypriot schools. He replied none as there is no problem with drugs in Cyprus and ...

Re: First Time Visit to Nicosia Immigration Office

Galexinda, have a look at this link for the Limassol Immigration Office, I found them very helpful for my MEU3, didn't need an appointment and very little waiting and the lady that deals with MEU3's was very pleasant and efficient. After the application, went back a week later for an official receip...

Re: Banks getting greedy - governments says it will act

There is no such thing as free banking!

All that happens is that the charges are hidden by lower interest rates or lower exchange rates than the real rates.

Re: Water pumped from the sea to the land for Cyprus' high-rise buildings

There are at least two reputable ( I know a contradiction in terms) Limassol estate agents that will allege that a high number of the multi story blocks been built in Limassol do NOT have the required planning consents, but the builders have disregarded this little bit of paperwork and carried on bu...

If there is no electric you cannot get petrol as the pumps are electric!

Either way you have a problem.

Re: €85m cost for emissions to be passed on to consumers

Why is Europe bothered about emissions when China, India and others are not only not doing their bit BUT dramatically increasing their fossil fuel and hence CO2 output beyond anything sensible? The UK closed Didcot power station (coal fired) producing 1.44 gigawatts but China is in the process of bu...

Re: What will you do today?

A complete farce, not recognised by the sport governing bodies. An advertising/marketing stunt. Sorry. Alan The thing is this was run on a flat straight road. Up and down it several times. Not in effect a Marathon. It is not recognized as such by the Guiness book of records. However having said tha...

I wonder if Boris offered to give NI to Ireland to resolve the border issues, bearing in mind NI voted to remain in the EU.

Re: New handheld devices for Paphos traffic wardens

It's all very well issuing tickets, but will it make any difference to the mindlessness of some who possibly don't care and/or don't pay anyway!? It was my bad that I didn't pay, I knew it was a pay car park but in my defense I have parked there 5 days a week for the last 12 years and never have pa...

Re: Cypriot organisations join forces to demand British woman in Napa rape case is freed

Read this today about a rape case at a UK court, an interesting read about rape case(s) in court. Also written by a woman. Sitting with 11 strangers in the jury box of an English crown court, the story of a girl's rape by a young man she hardly knew in the bedroom of her home one Friday night rang t...

Re: New handheld devices for Paphos traffic wardens

Today I became the proud owner of an €8 parking ticket here in sunny Limassol. No fancy handheld wifi machine, just good old fashioned hand written ticket, also having the wrong address to pay the fine. Speaking to the issuing traffic warden (A sergeant no less) he said that the local communities ha...
