Re: Cyprus Response re Support for Key Working, Rapairs, Bank Mortgage Holidays etc.

Thanks Lloyd - I ask for those two reasons.... I had terrible damage to my solar systems at 2 villas in Peyia and need repairs urgently... Also, bookings for rentals have fallen over the precipice, as you can imagine, and most booking companies - AirBNB, Homeaway and more, are giving 100% refunds......

Cyprus Response re Support for Key Working, Rapairs, Bank Mortgage Holidays etc.

I haven't seen a summary of any of this. I know there is a strict lockdown, but does that also include preventing any maintenance companies working?

Have the Cypriot banks announced any mortgage 'holidays' through the crisis?

Re: UK Nursing Home 'care'

The spanish situation was reported on the BBC and there are two scenarios - one is, as you say, where staff left the home unattended - absolutely shocking... The second is where they are told to leave a Corona deceased person to be uplifted by medical services - so dead patients in beds for some tim...

Drinking hot liquids, every 20 minutes - even a mouthful - is reckoned to work nay washing any virus in the mouth and throat into the stomach where the acids will kill it - before it gets into the chest - when it's too late to do anything other than ride it out...

Re: The GBP in freefall? and the reason?

Have to disagree there. With regards to the Corona Crisis, Boris Johnson has relied on his experts. And by that I mean proper scientists. Compare him to Trump. Sorry - 'scientists' with a small s..... Her Immunity - nonsense.... partial shutdown - nonsense. .... predicting it will get worse for 2 w...

Re: Eu trade talks/covid-19

As a business owner in the UK, I am disgusted by the UK's approach and lack of help for businesses. Thousands will goo bust and millions unemployed. But Boris's cronies will scavenge the remnants and make themselves money. Call me a cynic, I am, as I'm long enough ion the tooth and smart enough to s...

Re: The GBP in freefall? and the reason?

The UK is on it's own - and outside the EU(nearly) we are vulnerable in every way - of all times to be there.... Also, the UK has done almost nothing to support the individuals and businesses. During 2008, they bailed the banks out to the tune of over £800bn. They have committed only £30bn for this ...

Re: Shopping Experience Today

The entire UK is not like some of the areas photographed by the media, or shared on social media. Without doubt, panic buying is taking place. However, my local supermarkets, I have a Tesco, a Morrisons and a Lidl in the town, all pretty much have been able to supply items without queues. Sure, the ...

Re: Eu trade talks/covid-19

So on top of the outlandishly spendthrift budget which will cause UK borrowing to soar stratospherically, the UK will now have to contend with a Brexit in which negotiations have not even begun, plus the multi-billion cost of tackling Covid-19. I would put zero chance on Trump coming to the UK's ai...

Re: Eu trade talks/covid-19

With the news almost exclusively confined to the virus crisis, I've seen no mention of this anywhere. Are they to be postponed? I assume they are not now top priority with any of the participants, and almost certainly make Boris' aim of a result by year's end impossible There never was any intentio...

Re: Coronavirus Update (Live)

Regarding Vaccines, it is estimated that Covid19 will reappear next winter, before a Vaccine is tested and released. It normally takes 18 months but even with expedited 12 months, it wouldn’t be available and the worry is about causing mutations.

Re: Danger of coronavirus

From Evening Standard Boris Johnson described Coronavirus as the "worst public health crisis for a generation" and warned families to be braced for the deaths of loved ones. His bleak warning came it emerged there are 5,000 to 10,000 Britons carrying the virus that is sweeping the world. So, it is a...

In Italy, a queue was waiting to be tested. All masked up etc. One nurse. Someone at back for frustrated, took of his mask and walked to front and spat in the face of the nurse! Both now quarantined - one should be shot!

Re: Danger of coronavirus

The UK, along with the US, have taken Political decisions on Covid19 - rather than Medical. We are more interested in Economic impact, than medical and moral impact. So, we downgrade it, we limit testing, we do nothing to support individuals that may have no pay and have to live on SSP - while Irela...
