Re: Electricity supply sufficient thanks to installed PV modules

Wind power needs to be expanded.I ride a bike so am aware how many windy days there are and you would be surprised. The turbines at Kouklia turn the majority of days during autumn, winter and spring. I think it needs expanding, alongside much more use of solar and batteries.

Re: Net Metering v Net Billing

As I said, I am not a mathematician or statistician and my figures are probably very crude. We still have 9 years to go on our Net Metering contract and as long as EAC honour it, we would not need a battery. However, when the time comes, and we go onto Net Billing, a battery seems to be the way forw...

Net Metering v Net Billing

In the UK we have Net Billing, similar to the system EAC have introduced. However, with a wide range of suppliers and smart meters being readily available,we can choose time based tariffs whch give us a good return for our surplus energy. We currently get £0.31 per Kwh for export between 4pm and 7pm...

Re: Cost of electric bills for PV owners to increase by 16%+

Even at the new charges per Kwh, we are still on a winner with our PV panels. Ours paid for themselves within 6 years. We have an e car ordered, a VW ID3, and Greenair have fitted a Huwaii charger for us, which draws electric for charging from all 3 phases, so we will be using up some of our surplus...

Re: POP UP when I logged in

I realised that Dominic. Tried to delete the post but failed so edited instead. Getting a bit paranoid about scams since our AMEX card was used for transactions we didn't authorise. However, AMEX were on the ball and stopped money being taken from our account.

Faulty PowerBank

A couple of years ago I bought a power bank from a certain very large store in Paphos Mall. Have only used it a couple of times and charged it probably once or twice. Bought mainly to charge my back radar light and my garmin watch if I go on a long bike ride. Today noticed it had expanded considerab...

POP UP when I logged in

Just going to have a look at the Paphos Life forum. However, needed to log in. Logged in, password saved by google and a pop up appeared from Microsoft wanting to verify it was me, and wanting to know my Microsoft PIN. Crossed the pop up twice, without putting my pin in, and then the pop up did not ...

Re: Sunshine this spring nearly 50 % up in UK and .....

Think the answer to your question would be yes, especially on an island and near the coast, where most turbines are in the UK. The land heats up, hot air rises and is replaced by cooler air from the sea, producing air movement. We have noticed that it has been windy most days this year. Turbines at ...

Re: Net Metering being replaced by Net Billing

It is more noticeable in winter when one appliance, our pool heater, is consuming around 3Kwh and our panels are producing around 3Kwh, and we are exporting to the grid but also consuming electric from the grid, as shown by our meter.

Re: Net Metering being replaced by Net Billing

When we first got our pv panels, I noticed that I was importing electric from the grid, even though I was producing 5Kw. I did an experiment in the winter when I was producing around 3.5kw in an hour. I put an aircon unit on heat, which would be using around 2.5kw but I still imported from the grid....

Re: Sunshine this spring nearly 50 % up in UK and .....

Solar Edge1 (684 x 385).jpg Our rate of return on our PV panels in the UK for Spring was 9.32% on our investment, compared to 7.5% last year, and that was with higher electricity prices, especially for export. I'm quite happy with a return of 5% throughout the year, because that is more than if my ...

Re: Net Metering being replaced by Net Billing

When our net metering contract runs out, hopefully never, and is not altered under the current changes, batteries will be the way to go. During the period from December to January we produced, on average 15Kw per day, enough to supply our house with electric heating and all other electric consumptio...

Advert appearing on my post.

Just posted on Lloyd thread. An advert for Pet Friendly places has appeared at the end of my post. I didn't put it there. Just checked, it's now disappeared. Now it's back again.

I remember Lloyd being nominated for a Paphos Heart of Gold award quite a few years ago, for his work on helping and supporting an eastern European family, and he eventually got them back home. I'd forgotten that he was Happy in Cyprus on here.

Trev our local taverna, Londis Perasma, would welcome dogs. One of the locals brings his well behaved dog almost every night and she sits under the table. The food is brilliant and has been number 1 on trip advisor. If you want to book, give Pambos, the owner, a ring. Tell him your dog is well behav...

Re: Net Metering being replaced by Net Billing

In the UK, our Tesla battery along with our smart meter, allows us to export electricity to the grid at peak times. During the summer, from the end of April onwards, our battery charges mainly from solar, and then exports around 12kwh to the grid between 4pm and 7pm. We benefit as, with Octopus ener...

Re: Net Metering being replaced by Net Billing

Ours was around 8000 GBP and, at the time , not much dearer than a smaller solar edge battery. However, in retrospect, probably a cheaper, myenergi battery would have been more economical. One reason we went for the Tesla battery was its dimensions, it fitted on the path at the side of our house and...
