Re: Noisy Birds arrived

We saw a few flying around Anarita yesterday before the storm, but not as many yet as last year.

Black clouds over the hills and thunder rumbling in the distance. Still sunny here in Anarita but the rain is not far away.

We use the Tesco version of it, in liquid form. Used to use it regularly but the Tesco stuff from AlfaMega is so much cheaper.

Re: Police plead with MPs to increase penalties after road deaths spike (Updated)

I nearly knocked a police motorcyclist off his bike. Same set of lights as in the video. No blues or twos and without any warning he undertook me at traffic lights as I was turning right and then cut in front of me. What hope have we got when police motorcyclists ride dangerously. Also, those lights...

Re: Pool duck meets friend (animal story)

Try taking it to the reservoir. One of our neighbours had the same problem. Not only was it using their pool but it wanted feeding too. It would peck on the glass of the patio window each morning. They took it to the reservoir, but it was a homing duck and came back. In the end I think one of the an...

Re: Geoffrey

RIP Geoff. Although he was controversial in some of his views he also contributed useful tips for living in Cyprus. I still use a Now tv stick because of him, for watching Sky entertainment channels and Sky Sport whilst in Cyprus, which we can now do legally, but only for a month, without a vpn. He ...

Re: What3words:The app that can save your life

I use an Ordinance Survey app on my phone in the UK which gives me my precise location by gps without using mobile data. It gives a grid reference which could be used by the emergency services to locate me if I had an accident on one of my walks. However, this system is much quicker and simpler. Llo...

Re: Yeroskipou wants to "swap land" to save ancient site from development

Just hope the council are successful. I regularly walk over this land and, as well as being an archaeological site, it is a green area within the hotel area and a haven for wildlife and wild flowers. In spring, locals can be found picking wild asparagus and other roots. P1030799 (900 x 507).jpg I sp...

Majority of people on our development have still not got theirs We were very lucky and really feel for our neighbours who are still waiting, after 15 years, and still at the mercy of a certain bank.

Re: Work on our villa.

Today, all the work on our pool was finally finished. Cannot praise Greenair and their staff enough. The two guys who did all the plumbing work and moving the pump room etc were brilliant. Today, as the pool was being filled, they made sure that the liner was seated correctly. P1030918 (1000 x 563)....

Re: Paphos marina study to look at option to include cruise ship facilities

A lot of savvy cruise passengers do their own research before travelling. We visited Ephesus in Turkey independently, for half the price of the official excursion. We made sure that we had an official registered guide and were in a registered mini bus. Paphos would be ideal for independent cruise pa...

Re: Paphos marina study to look at option to include cruise ship facilities

Other Med ports have piers for cruise ships without it impacting too much on the town. In Mykonos the pier for cruise ships is to the left of the town. Even in very small villages, such as the one that serves Mount Olympus in Greece, Katakola, the cruise pier is just part of the harbour area and ser...

Work on the pool almost complete. George is making huge efforts to obtain a liner that matches. Garden has now been put back and all tiles laid. Now just waiting for the liner to be repaired and the pool filled. Have been very impressed with the professionalism of Greenair. P1030910 (900 x 507).jpg ...

Re: Work on our villa.

The electrician was talking about an air source heat pump for our underfloor heating, which is at present run on oil and we do not use because of the cost. Also a solar pump for the swimming pool. We will look closely at our energy consumption when our 5kw solar panels come online and make decisions...

Re: Work on our villa.

Jim, most evenings there has been a nice breeze. However, have only been doing 4 miles because of the heat. Will be glad when our pool is finally finished. The electrician has got to come to put power into the new pump shed. Then the holes and trenches will need filling with concrete. They did a pre...
