Re: Cockroaches and the Council
Go and see the lady in Chloraka. She will sell you two chemicals which you mix together and put down every plug hole and toilet. We do this twice a year and have not had any roaches in our house since. About five years ago had a slight problem with roaches in the house. They were coming up the plug ...

Re: Spanner in the works
We gave up our teaching jobs at 54, selling our home in Rochdale and fully intending to move to Cyprus permanently. We had a holiday property in Penrhyn Bay, which again, we intended to sell. However, certain circumstances have made us remain swallows. One was health care. When Rosemary and I retire...

Re: FLU JABS
Reading the Telegraph article could put people who skim read off having the jab. Look carefully at the date. I think that was the year they brought out the bird flu immunisation, which did make some people feel ill. I was warned of the symptoms before I had it, and only suffered a sore arm. If I had...

Re: bbc I player
I know, but sometimes the programme we want to watch is not on Exodus or Covenant. We used to watch Escape to the Country on iplayer lite. Beauty of it was it gave the series number and episode number, so we could pick only current episodes. Last time I looked it was not on Exodus or Covenant, and o...

Re: FLU JABS
I had mine last week in UK. No side effects whatsoever. It does not give you flu and is much better than having a full blown attack. I do not think I have ever had flu. Early in my teaching career, in the late seventies, there was a flu virus and we had only 40 children in school, out of 400, and on...

Re: bbc I player
Clearstream Catchup is good, as long as you remember you only have a fortnight to watch programmes. I miss the iplayer lite feature as it gave a longer catchup period and often sourced the progamme from another provider.

Re: Why am I behaving so badly?
Well done Dominic. The council have intervened. They require a risk assessment of each balloon so they have had to be removed. The risk assessment requires five days notice. The lady who was putting the balloons up got a phone call from the council so they had to be removed.

Re: Why am I behaving so badly?
The balloons I popped were all different colours. Some were purple. The scissors were given to me by the lady who had placed the balloons on the route. Why did she want them popped? The last balloon I popped was about three quarters of a mile from Conwy. The lady must have got someone else to remove...

Why am I behaving so badly?
On my bike ride today, from Penrhyn Bay, round the Great Orme, then to Conwy then on to Penmaenmawr, I saw a lady putting balloons up on the route from Conwy to Pen. I stopped and spoke to her, asking what she was doing. She told me that there is a Memory Walk taking place tomorrow and she was marki...

Re: Airport Road
Lovely bike Jules. I bought some fluorescent green tops from Lidl when we were over a couple of weeks ago. I have also noticed that my bike here has a fluorescent stripe on the tyre and I always, when on the road, cycle with lights on. Lovely photo. Is it Morecambe Bay? Very similar to the scenery on...

Re: My bike rides around North Wales. Part 2 Lots of pictures
P1000108.jpg From Talacre it is a short ride across a dyke to Point of Ayr Colliery. The locals are still very proud of working there and we spoke to two men who told us a lot about the history of the site. In Ffynnongroyw the Farmer's Arms has newspaper articles displayed about the colliery, the m...

My bike rides around North Wales. Part 2 Lots of pictures
P1000009 (800 x 450).jpg This sculpture is on the prom at Prestatyn. It marks the end of the Offah's Dyke Path. P1000096.jpg From the car park at the end of the prom at Prestatyn, by the sailing club, you come out of the car park and follow the bike track signs. They take you passed Pontins, locati...

The end of the promenade at Rhyl.
From here it is sea wall and then promenade to Prestatyn. Could be difficult in winter with sand on the sea wall.

Re: My walks and bike rides around North Wales
It is a fantastic route and well worth bringing your bikes. P1000083.jpg Pensarn where you can get a drink at the Beach Cafe, as long as you are there by 4:30pm in summer and 3:30pm in winter. This really annoys me about Wales. Cafes still do not stay open late. P1000084.jpg Kimnel Bay and sea defen...

The steepest part of the route between Penrhyn Bay and Chester. A steep descent to Llandulas, where you follow the river.

My walks and bike rides around North Wales
On Sunday 1st October I cycled from Penrhyn Bay to Ffynnongroyw. I then cycled back to Prestatyn where Rosemary picked me up. P1000063.jpg P1000065.jpg St Trillo's Chapel and Well, around 2 miles from our house. I remember the elation I felt when I first walked here in late February, just 6 weeks af...
