Re: UK mobile phones

We now enjoy the same tariff on our roaming in Cyprus as we do in the UK, so now no longer make calls to the UK on our Cyprus phone. Also no need to use whatsap or skype anymore for calling back to the UK, as our sim only contract with vodafone covers our calls and texts to the UK. When in the UK we...

Re: Peace 2 Peace Exhibit Again

Thank you Dominic. Peace within communities must be promoted by everyone. We were going to have a good walk around the old town but unfortunately were called back to the UK.

Re: car cover

When our car was new, 13 years ago, we tried various car covers, two bought locally and one a very expensive one from Halfords, but they all rotted in the sun. We now wax our car regularly to protect it from the sun, and so far this has worked with no blemishes on the paintwork. We use Mer Car polis...

Re: Holidays and Travel

We stayed at the Myroandrou Beach Apartments in Pernara. We booked it through a website called otel.com and got a real bargain. In fact it was so cheap we thought we had been scammed. I have no idea how I found the website; it was through a link on trip advisor I think or even a popup.. A one night ...

Re: Electricity Tariffs - Effective 01 November 2017

Sorry, we were on Tariff 07. My worry is they will charge us for expensive electricity between the period when our meter was read in September and the reading in November. Usually we only use around 10 units of expensive electric between the meter reading and the beginning of October when we used to...

Re: Electricity Tariffs - Effective 01 November 2017

We were on Tariff 05, getting cheaper electric during the winter months and paying a premium for electricity consumed between 9am and 5pm during the summer. We have been told by eac that we will be transferred to tariff 01 and our November bill will be calculated at this new rate, which is around th...

Re: Holidays and Travel

Have not used them, but Century Travel are agents for Thomson Cruises and other cruise companies. One member of CL got a very good deal on a Thomson cruise a few years back which matched the £200 we paid for a week by booking direct.

Re: Keo dry white wine

We think the carton wine is much better than the bottles of Aphrodite which must be one of the worst wines in the world. Probably the best of the carton wine is the SODAP medium white wine, but the Keo is certainly drinkable. Another cheap but drinkable carton wine is the 1.5 litre cartons of Italia...

And the last school I taught at was 90% Muslim pupils and a small number of Christian Black Africans who attended various churches. Christmas was and still is celebrated with Nativity Plays and Christmas Parties, just as Eid is celebrated in school. School's ethos is to show respect for all beliefs....

Re: Yesterday's Walk

When the path was first laid, local primary schools were asked to design modern mosaics that could be laid by the builders. Unfortunately there are only a couple left, one, the remains of a rocket and a couple of sets of weights. It provided a really good talking point for families walking along the...

Yesterday's Walk

Walk most days from Penelope's Church to Lighthouse Beach but yesterday took my camera to photograph the art work on the section from the harbour to Lighthouse Beach. Some explanation of the artwork and who it was by, in English, would have been nice. The gallery, on the right at the harbour was clo...

Thanks for that Max. I regularly read the Mail and have not seen any reference to drinking water quality.

Rosemary goes to Av at Revolution. Certainly on a par with the top hairdresser she used to use in Rochdale. She tried quite a few before going to him.

Re: Coastal path lights?

Thanks for that information Max. Usually the areas are completely cordoned off when a dig is taking place. This area was cordoned off with metal piles, some orange tape and water bottles on top of the piles. It definitely looks like an archaeological dig now. Today's photos. 20171027_172008 (800 x 6...

Re: Coastal path lights?

We were going to go for a walk last night, but were rained off. We had a lovely coffee at the Kaso Beach bar, near the Imperial Hotel, which we drank in the car, watching the wind whip up the waves and the downpour. Walked today from the Luna Park to the beach bar. I think you would be relying on ho...

Re: Road traffic Chaos in the Old Town this morning and the new Markideon

Just wonder how many drivers take notice of lane markers. On the roundabouts here, particularly the new ones on the new airport road and those by the hotels near the Luna Park, the right hand lane is marked as straight on. We have had quite a few near misses with me driving in the right hand lane and...

Re: Road traffic Chaos in the Old Town this morning and the new Markideon

We came down Polis Road from Costas tyres on Tuesday and then through the old town passed Kennedy Square. It took us ages and we will avoid that route again. The problem, as already stated, is where there previously was two lanes is now one lane. Also, the two sets of lights were totally working aga...
