Re: Why things sometimes don't work...

Thanks for the tip Mike, but the wire mesh is part of the non return flap on the outside wall and at least 5 metres away from the fan. No problem in 15 years but can see your point. We've just decided we want a quieter extractor.

Re: Why things sometimes don't work...

We have a non-return flap fitted on the outside wall at the end of the pipe from the extractor. We covered the inside of this with steel mesh to prevent insects from getting in and it's worked a treat. OH has just removed the extractor before fitting a new one and there's no sign of creepy crawlies.

Re: Central heating without diesel/gas in Cyprus...

We had Green Air to recently install 3 dual inverters and they are brilliant, and will keep our house warm throughout our winter even on a low setting. Best of all there are no radiators to install. Our house is small but with very high ceilings so we put our ceiling fans on to winter setting and ru...

We went today at 1.15 p.m. and got our flu jab (no queue) and were told that the vaccines had only recently arrived. Thanks Trev, for the heads up.

Flu Jabs - update today from General Hospital

With apologies to those who know this already. We visited the General this morning and was told that the current batch of flu vaccinations are only being provided by appointment and there are no appointments left. Normal service will resume from 18th November when you can either visit the General to...

Re: Banks getting greedy - governments says it will act

We have two bank accounts, one with BOC and the other with Hellenic. When we had cash transferred from the UK to our current account at the BOC it was taking an average of 48 hours to show in our account (that's 48 hours after Currency Fair informed us that the exchange had taken place and the trans...

Sorry Lloyd, I completely understand and I applaud their intentions, but having been in M & S yesterday it's got some way to go. I've been a loyal customer in the past so I'll think positive thoughts.......

Re: Flat Roof Sealant

We've just sealed our flat roof with a similar product to which Lloyd is referring, purchase from One Stop. We cleaned the roof thoroughly, applied a thick coat of Deep Seal as undercoat in order to ensure bonding to the original coating, which was a solvent based product, then two coats of the wate...

Flu Jabs - today at the General

After hearing that some people had been successful in getting their 'flu vaccinations at the General in the last few days we went along today and found several people waiting outside a locked vaccination office. A notice on the door said that breaks are taken between 1000-1030. This was at 11.15. My...

Having looked at it closely, and google'd, we think it's a mud dauber's nest and the emerging offspring will probably enlarge the hole.

What's This?

I just noticed the attached on the outside wall of our house by the front door.

I guess it's the nest of a very small wasp but I haven't caught sight of the owner yet.

Any ideas?

Re: Driving licence renewal

When I renewed my Cypriot licence at the Citizens help desk at the main Post Office, they used my old photo from 3 years previously. I was rather hoping to get a new photo, but on the bright side when I'm 94 they may still be using my photo from when I was 73!

Cover options for car insurance for the North

Does anyone know if you can get car insurance cover for just 3 months at the border?

Or is the time period restricted to either a month, or a year?

Thanks in advance.
