Re: Ayia Napa Sculpture Park - 2020

Before lock down we stayed in the Larnaca area twice a year during the off season. The hotel we stayed at was a stones throw from the Sculpture Park so we visited it on several occasions. Well worth it.....

Re: Village Community Charge

When we first started paying our village community charge we were told that we could visit the offices and review the audited accounts, so it's not really so ridiculous if it's what interests you. We have never bothered but I understand that some people have asked the question. Whether or not they w...

Re: How expensive is Cyprus compared to rest of EU?

Agree with Lincoln particularly if you stick to local produce.

However, prices are rising, and will probably do so in other countries, and we estimate our weekly shopping bill may increase by about €20 per week.

Re: Superhome Centre.

When we go to Superhome in Limassol we always watch out for the very large church on the left hand side off the motorway, as our landmark.

Re: They think it’s all over

Can't comment knowledgeably on whether or not masks are beneficial but we wear ours to support the staff who have to wear them all day. Must be awful in this hot weather.

Thank you for posting, Devil. Very interesting. I have to say I have a deep respect for the President. He has a difficult job but he is handling it very well.

Re: Cyprus to pay for Holidays of infected tourists ..

My wife and I have already discussed the implications of a possible second wave of the virus, have decided that as we got so used to being in lock down it would be easy enough to self isolate again if necessary. We've already decided that we won't be flying anywhere for at least a year. We're happy ...

Re: Communal Pools to remain CLOSED

Interesting that it quotes above that there have been "many reports of people being fined over the weekend". Usually this information finds it's way into the papers, FB, etc. Of course I may have missed it.

Re: Heat wave AC?

Yep Jim, agree, that's why we chose them. Just a small thing like painting the area left when the old units were removed and before the new ones were fitted made the difference, and attaching the hoses to the house wall rather than leave them lying on on the shared flat roof was also helpful, i.e. g...

Re: Heat wave AC?

Totally agree, get various recommendations/quotes. We hadn't realised that Green Air was a sponsor. We had some specific questions and requirements so we popped in to see them and they were able to help us.

Re: Heat wave AC?

Green Air installed 3 x LG Dual Inverters last Autumn to replace our rather noisy old ones. Not only are they much cheaper to run but also provide great heat during in the winter with the added advantage of acting as dehumidifiers. Our winter heating bill was much lower than the previous year when w...

Re: Communal Pools to remain CLOSED

According to the Press Officer, Angeliki Hadjithoma, who wrote to Mr Flick and Ms Taylor at Cyprus Communal Guide "public and communal pools are only allowed to be open/be used for sports activities at the moment. Not for any other use". Swimming is a sport so wouldn't it seem reasonable to allow co...

Sit Bone Pain

I've been suffering from sit bone pain since November. Basically it's pain experienced on the ishium that can turn into ishial bursitis. It's not a particularly common problem, sometimes referred to as weavers bottom as a result of sitting on hard seats. I'm wondering if anyone else is suffering fro...

Tower fan v blade fan - recommendation please

We are considering buying a tower fan as they take up less room than a blade fan.

Never having had one before can anyone tell me the pros and cons, a good one to buy, and where from?

Many thanks

George Vorkas Radialogy

Just wondered if anyone knows if Mr Vorkas is open for business? I'm not getting any reply from the number I have and I'd like to book a couple of scans.

Thanks in advance.

TV Series Recommendation - SHOOTER

Just by chance we started watching the SHOOTER series featuring Ryan Phillippe. It's very good IMHO, loads of action. There have been 3 seasons to date. It's based on the 2007 film with Mark Wahlberg.

IMDb will give details of the story line.
