Re: Pension increase notification
Once we received the notice of pension increase letters, we scan them and email them to our accountants (along with my Army pension, and my teacher’s pension details) for next year. It saves a lot of hassle.

We sent them by registered post and tracked them online. They were signed for by “Dean”.

Absolutely furious with “illegal” expat
We have been royally ripped off (no details) by a British expat, who we have subsequently learned has no MEU1, MEU3, private health insurance, runs a “business” but doesn’t pay into the Social Fund and who is not registered for tax. He has been under the radar for a number of years, and we are incen...

Re: Party Time … the drinks are on us
Don't complain, there's a lot of pensioners who are very grateful for that money at this time of year, I’m not complaining. If pensioners need this money then just add it to the State Pension, and avoid the cost of the administration. It was the same situation with the Winter Fuel Allowance - more c...

Re: Party Time … the drinks are on us
How ridiculous to pay such a silly amount. We have donated the money to our local hospice. How much must it cost to administer?

Party Time … the drinks are on us
A very merry time this Christmas as Ann and I have the grand total of €23,42 to lavish on whatever we want. Every year we forget about the Christmas bonus. What an anachronism in 2021?

Amazon UK refund …
Following on from my thread yesterday about Amazon UK and their very prompt delivery, I was amazed last night to get an email from them last night referring to an item I bought from them in June (a Logitech iPad keyboard). They were contacting me to tell me of a refund of about €15. The reason: Impo...

Re: Amazon Uk delivery
Given the upheaval of postal services and the woes of couriers, I was amazed with a delivery from Amazon UK this morning. I had ordered an item from them last Wednesday and opted for Standard Delivery. UPS delivered to the door this morning. Gosh 🤫 Hi Are amazon UK deliveries being hit with any ext...

Re: New restrictive measures against Covid-19 as of 29 November
I’ve just read the following on the Cyprus government website: “As of 1 December, all individuals aged 18 years or older who have not completed their vaccination scheme must undergo a PCR test valid for 72 hours or a Rapid antigen test with a validity of 48 hours for SafePass purposes” I am not elig...

Is there a chance of an imminent lockdown?
I hope that I am reasonably able to identify “fake news” but this may possibly be an indication of an imminent lockdown. My wife and I went to a local English-run bar yesterday for a drink. Ann was chatting to the landlady and asked how their recruiting drive was going. She was told that they had pu...

Re: CovScan application mandatory for SafePass checks
The latest update (U Turn) is explained in the Cyprus Mail article. I assume the Cypriot government must have had a crash course at the Boris Johnson School of Political Expediency.

Vaccination Portal query?
My wife had her booster vaccination the other day and this was arranged for her (at her request) by the staff at Polis Medical Centre. My booster is due in early December and for the previous vaccinations I used the Vaccination Portal on the GESY website. I thought I would check this today but there...

Re: Cleaning grout between floor tiles …
Hi MacManiac, it's the Shark Klik N' Flip Smartronic Deluxe Steam Rocket Mop (took the details from the user guide) which comes with 2 mop heads. It's not cordless but has a very long sturdy cable. With the amount of power it uses a cordless one probably wouldn't be up to the job IMHO. The mop head...

Re: Cleaning grout between floor tiles …
We bought a Shark steam cleaner from Amazon DE just before last Christmas. One of the best things we've bought IMHO. Cleans the grout perfectly as well as the tiles. Before that I used to spend a couple of hours twice or three times a year on my knees scrubbing with one of the magic white pads. Tha...

Re: Cleaning grout between floor tiles …
Thanks to both. The problem is that our tiles extend from the living area, the dining and kitchen areas, both bedrooms and both bathrooms. At my age I do not want to have to kneel down on hard floors to scrub the grout. Hence my question regarding a machine of some sort (steam cleaner perhaps?).
