Re: Two new linear parks for Paphos

True. Does the Paphos Municipality employ sufficient gardeners and workers to look after 2 extra parks and keep all the existing parks and green areas in a good condition?
Perhaps there will be new cycle ways and pedestrian walking paths through them

Re: YellowHammer Docs releases

From what I heard on the news, and have read of the YellowHammer Report the likely effects of a no deal on the average citizen in The UK paint a gloomy picture of shortages and increased prices of food, medicines and fuel to name just 3. it’s also easy to see why Boris Johnsons Govt who commissioned...

Re: Two new linear parks for Paphos

Time will tell! Hopefully some plans of whats intended might surface.. Is the NW Paphos park the area behind Paps in Ellados Ave? That is adjacent to part of Mouttalos, I thought that the land here belonged, or used to, to Turkish Cypriot owners? At present there is an old lane which links the back ...

Re: Illegally parked cars should be towed away

Yes, the obstructions to disabled pedestrians trying to use the pavements here are appalling. This summer I was unlucky enough to break a bone in my knee. For 6 weeks while my leg was in a splint and I was using a stick, I made lots of observations of the difficultiesI I had trying to get around for...

Re: Battle of Britain Day

Yes, very true. But its a tradition in the RAF that winning the Battle for Britain in 1940 is when the squadron pilots left -after Dunkirk, ‘The Few’ risked their lives working incredible hours to vanquish numerically much greater German Fighter squadrons who were intent on trying to destroy our air...

Re: Where to buy an aluminium or UPVC front door?

Yes, the stuff there looks good and well made. Tilt and turn windows seem better than sliding ones and more secure too. Any glass used in the design is double glazed and the door itself is solid, they have multi point locking. Not particularly cheap, but my old front door is ripe for replacement. Th...

Re: staying in cyprus

The uncertainty over Brexit is an added complication as nothing is set in stone. Even before Cyprus joined the EU Immigration could be difficult, and you have to register with them if you intend to stay here. We came in 1999, too young for acceptance for free health care here, we had to take out pri...

Re: Where to buy an aluminium or UPVC front door?

Hi All, Thanks for all your help. Today, I stopped at a shop/display, called Marfeel Ltd in a street near to Debenhams. It sells UPVC double glazing, but it also had a few examples of UPVC front doors. On enquiring further, I was shown an extensive catalogue of doors! I chose one which suits, and it...

Re: staying in cyprus

It may be advisable for you to do so some research before taking a big step like this. You don’t say if you have qualifications to do anything which may be useful if you are looking for work here. Adding to the uncertainty about the future is the problem of Brexit, especially if we leave the EU with...

Yes, that’s why it was reported that by ripping it out from the water supply it caused a flood at Blenheim. It’s dreadful the way the thieves opearated.

I wonder if Blenheim took any extra security measures against a
burglary? Would have thought that they would with such a valuable item on loan to them.

Re: I know this Spain but Can Happen On Flights to Cyprus

Hasn’t happened to anyone I know personally -yet en route to Cyprus, but worth thinking about. Personally, I sometimes check my cabin bag in as hold baggage, thus minimising my cabin baggage, to date no probs with doing this. Also generally easier to get through security and in the airport without t...

It poured down, short heavy shower, with some peals of thunder while we were enjoying lunch today in the 7St George area, about 2pm. Also a lighter shower in Chloraka. Maybe help settle the dust at least for a few hours!

Re: GESY ... dream or nightmare

Well obviously costs for prescription medicine are variable under GESY, but in the main still seem much less than the retail price for many medicines. Private medicine, here on average is much cheaper than in the UK. In the private hospitals in UK means much faster appointments wherever you are, but...

Re: Cyprus has fifth most expensive bread, cereals in EU28 (table)

I have noticed that many types of breakfast cereals are considerably more expensive here than in the UK. There seem to be all sorts of excuses for this.Ranging from Cyprus is a small market, shipping is expensive etc. However many food items are bought and distributed by a single wholesaler, who pre...

Re: Where to buy an aluminium or UPVC front door?

Thank you all! Some very interesting, helpful comments. I have recently replaced my old aluminum windows with good quality double glazed UPVC ones. So far they are performing well. I now want to replace my old draughty metal front door which doesn’t fit well. But as I posted previously, where can on...
