Re: Cyprus accused of blocking new EU sanctions against Russia amid Turkey spat

The problem of borrowing money from someone is that it often comes with ‘strings’ attached which may at some point cause unexpected consequences. Where Brexit is concerned there seem to be divided opinions here and in the UK about the benefits vs the consequences of what may or may not be be a good ...

Re: Supreme court hears British man's appeal in lengthy property dispute (Updated)

Was she? The reports I read said that she had been forced by the police to sign a statement retracting her earlier claim to having been raped. Lets leave it there please,WHL. As the case is probably still sub judici Or should be.. You have your own agenda on this. The thread we are are on is about C...

Re: Cyprus accused of blocking new EU sanctions against Russia amid Turkey spat

It’s obvious that the Cypriot Govt doesn’t want to upset the Russians who have many irons in the fire here. That they want to get more support in their perennial quest to spike Turkey’s guns if they can. Should be no surprise either. Whether the EU wants to get involved in the perpetual scheming by ...

Wonder who's putting up the money to pay for it? Is it going to be a club perhaps...as well as having a restaurant?

Re: Supreme court hears British man's appeal in lengthy property dispute (Updated)

He really deserves to win his appeal having put so much into it while trying to get justice , over the years. There is a lot wrong with the justice and the court system on this sunny island. Look at the way the English girl was treated in her court case. Which incidentally was in the same part of th...

Re: The Pomos Coast

I thought that it was a blunt nose (viper), because its body looked too thick to be a coin snake. But as this snake was coiled, I couldn’t see its head or its tail properly. But I agree that is markings weren’t typical of other vipers I have seen.

Re: MEU 3

My MEU 3 probably got lost somewhere while in the post.after 9 months there was still no sign of it. With Gwennys assistance, eventually the immigration Dept decided to issue me with a copy of the original one. I even had to go to the Court where it was duly, signed, stamped and received the officia...

Re: "Unexpected" discovery of skeletal burials at Paphos Agora excavations

Yes, the Archaeological Park is a huge site and I have seen most of it, including areas which most visitors wouldn't see. So much of the older part ofPaphos is built over ancient archaeological remains. While much of the old town is built over ancient tombs. There will be still more of ancient Papho...

I go to Gregory’s in the old town too. I have always found him very good. A traditional watch repairer.

Re: Cataract surgery

Trev I had cataracts removed from both my eyes a year ago, I had one eye done at Iasis, I was not happy with the results Of that unfortunately. As a result of recommendations from several friends, I went to Pantheo for my other eye. It was like chalk and cheese. My treatment at Pantheo was 1st class...

Will we find out if the council were granted planning and building permission to do this?
It seems all wrong to obstruct what is quite a small, sandy beach with this building. If they had to erect it, pity that they didn’t do it above the beach.

Re: The meaning of Paphos.

Thanks, Dominic. Your blog was very interesting as I’ve visited some of these cemeteries previously. But we didn’t explore the whole area. As you said parts of it are fairly inaccessible and you have to be careful due to the steep slopes... so well done!

Re: The meaning of Paphos.

I feel sure that you are right, Lloyd, and Wikipedia gives a fairly accurate picture. I don’t believe all the ‘Foamy’ stuff at the start of this post.. Though as far as I know the birth of Aphrodite says she emerged from the sea foam near the fabled rock! But its an ancient belief and good for touri...

Re: Respect passengers, minister warns after inspecting Paphos school bus

The conditions inside that bus look horrible. I wonder if the owners of that bus employ any cleaners, if they do the cleaner responsible deserves the sack! And should at least have reported the appalling state of the inside of that bus to his manager. If the inside of the bus is allowed to look like...

How likely or unlikely is this to affect other Britains living here?

Re: Traffic Lights out

You’d think that whoever is responsible for the design of major roads would take into consideration the increasing size (and weight- where applicable) of commercial vehicles which will be using the road. This should include making any roundabouts sufficiently spacious to allow large vehicles to use ...
