Re: Holiday Insurance.

Ratty Patty, Many holiday health insurance policys don't include repatriation. It is the cost of repatriation if you are seriously ill that is the decider where the cost of the policy is concerned. Also age becomes a factor once you are over 70. As I am also in that catigory I have to pay an additio...

Re: Theft from your baggage

Yes, it is quite obvious if someone breaks the zip on your suitcase, thus leaving no doubt it has been broken into. So far no one has bothered with my inexpensive suitcases! Thiefs must know which bags are the most likely to contain expensive contents! Anyway, if you have nothing of value in your su...

Re: Holiday Insurance.

If you aren't thinking about being repatriated while alive, you could try asking Angel Guardians who arrange repatriation to country of origin of the deceased. But if you are thinking in terms of injury or illness, you would probably have to take out an (expensive) travel health insurance policy. Re...

Re: What you can find on a trip out if you are bored

You can also find fossils. Sometimes among pebbles on a beach or otherwise in some of the cliffs. This is an area with so much history, browsing on the internet will yield lots of interesting information. Archaeological sites, abandoned villages, hidden inland valleys...

Re: Theft from your baggage

Like others have said I don't pack anything of value in my hold baggage. I have zip up cases and use a coloured band with its own digital lock to help secure my suitcase. I thread the band under the handle. At one time LGW and LHR had bad reputations regarding theft from passangers suitcases. With a...

I think that this is the wrong time of the year! Most of the shops are in winter mode...
Usually, about a month before Easter all the shops who sell garden furniture will have their summer stock in and on display. If you can wait until March there should be much more choice of what is available.

Re: Poison Ayia Marinoudha

Unfortunately the mind set of certain people in Cyprus will ensure that these poisonings will continue, its the same year in Year out. Be very vigilent whenever you walk your dogs and try to vary your route as much as possible. Keep away from routes close to villages.

Re: yellow slip

Yes, basically getting a yellow slip is fairly easy, but you will definitely need private health insurance before you go to immigration, as you are both below British state pension age.We had this same problem when we first came to live here. You will not be able to use the virtually free state heal...

Re: Cure Wanted for....

Yes, amazingly rubbing Vick on the soles of your feet at bedtime and covering with socks, does work miracles. I thought that it was an old wives tale until I tried it! You can also rub vick on your chest and by your nostrils. Drink lots of warm or hot fluids, not just alchohol.. Keep warm and stay i...

Re: Politics

I am happy for Dominics solution to the political posting controversy to go ahead. At least those who don't like discussion of political topics won't be offended as they have opted to be excluded from it. However, I object to the calling of names for those who voted to Remain. Why should we be brand...

Re: Return of stolen mail at last!

Yes, I bought that paper this morning and read that bit. Interestingly, a cheque book sent by my UK bank which went 'missing' last July, was returned to me this morning at the post office when I went in to check my PO Box. The envelope had been slit open at some time, but my cheque book was still in...

Re: Politics

Yes a section on Cyprus politics, but it might need moderating at times. I think that there is lots to talk about at present and it could be interesting to hear different views as long as people avoid getting too heated.

The existing Politics section is fine, with use of the 'pit' if required.

What is going to be very interesting to those of us expats who have chosen to live outside the UK is just how the Brexit is going to affect our lives here.
