Do anybody have any experience of using the Vaccination centre at Paphos General Hospital for travel vaccinations? I’m interested to know what type of malaria tablets they typically dispense. Was in there earlier this week but on my long list of questions I missed that one.

Re: Pet proof fly screens
Call Franks Blinds on 97 790978. I know he offers these as an option on fly screens but I can’t comment on their effectiveness as ours are the standard material.

Re: COVID RESTRICTIONS
The position is quite clear, the requirement to present a negative Covid-19 test result in order to visit a hospital or nursing home was lifted recently - as reported in the Cyprus Mail and other media outlets on 19 March: https://cyprus-mail.com/2024/03/19/no-more-covid-tests-to-visit-hospitals/ Ian

:D To all the people who are having cardiac arrests at the St George flag, here's a bit of History for you. George was from Anatolia, a Greek-speaking town now part of modern day Turkey, and because of his tall stature and fair hair was probably of Darian origin. George's family were Christians, hi...

Re: Cyta - so easy
Interesting. Perhaps they had a flood of people like us ditching them for other providers after they introduced this last year. My wife switched to a Primetel pay monthly account and is very happy with it as she makes far more use of the phone. My own PrimeTel contract is due for renewal in a couple...

Re: NHS cover on visit to UK
I applied to the UK for an EHIC card last year but was told I wasn't eligible unlessI I had a UK address. Blame Brexit. However I have been told that the NHS will provide emergency care, but bearing in mind the curren t state of the NHS and the very long waits for anything concerning health treatme...

Why? It’s a card issued for residents of European countries. Available by appointment at Citizens Service Centres.

Re: Masks and mandatory tests following Covid 'outbreak'
Sorry Dominic, but that is just someone offering an opinion, based on no actual facts. No evidence is presented. There have been scant few scientific studies carried out. One of the few real studies that was carried out was in Norway and that found that masks did nothing to prevent the spread of co...

Re: Traffice light cameras
Certainly there are Cameras installed at the major junction near Lidl There certainly are Trevor, and I’ve seen them trigger and flash several times even if that data is not yet being used to generate tickets. Here’s a question for you all. For years I’ve noted that when there is a TL controlled ju...

Re: Electric Cars - Caveat Emptor
Apparently they don't actually recall the cars they send out an internet patch, which I suspect means that the owners will have to comply with certain conditions. I can see a lot of them being missed. Sorry, that answer begs the question that something in the US needs modification but not elsewhere...

Re: Forget gas.. Energy storage is the answer
Storage is a massive issue. The studies by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory consistently show that, in the US for example, the amount of rejected energy is around two thirds. That’s a shed load of energy going to waste. You can play around with the charts on the attached link, the charts for C...

Re: Paphos Airport Car Park Query
I went through the airport the other day and dropped my car in the short stay opposite the terminal no problem, At the entrance of the short stay there is a police car vetting who can go around in front of the terminal or can’t. You can get access to all the car parks by going through the short sta...

Re: Paphos Airport Car Park Query
Just head for P5 entrance it's just around the bend towards the terminal. The barriers open automatically recognising your number plate. Go in and find a spot to park and walk across to the terminal Uncle D, yes I know where it is but the normal access is via the terminal drop off road which is res...

Paphos Airport Car Park Query
Whilst I’m waiting for an email response from Hermes, I wonder if anyone in the answer to this. If you have a car park reservation for car park P5 at Paphos - the fairly new one more or less opposite the exit barriers to the main car park in front of the terminal, how do you get to it whilst the roa...

Re: Elgin marbles
We had a fantastic trip (again) to Athens earlier this year. Lord Elgin’s name features regularly on the explanatory notes on the Parthenon on the Acropolis and in the Acropolis Museum - the articles are written in a way that few would doubt the feelings of those in Greece. The Caryiads on the Erech...

Re: Shower Stool/Seat conundrum?
I have a shower stool with overall dimensions of 55x55x48 (W x H x D) with. Seat area of 32 x 24 which has been loanwd out a few times over the years. Max user weight is 150kg so pretty sturdy. Seat height can be adjusted between 35 and 53 cm. If it’s suitable and you can get to Polemi, I’ll happily...

Using Mobile PAYG Balance to Donate to Charity
Top tip: If you are changing your mobile phone provider and have a PAYG balance left on your phone that you will lose when you move provider, rather than simply losing the balance you could instead consider donating the balance to a charity. For example, we had €40 balance left on a CYTA PAYG and ha...

Re: EV cars and parki
I am so looking forward to getting an EV .. they are 100 times less likely to catch fire compared with “normal” cars and with any luck they will now have the added benefit that idiots don’t park near them. “Normal” cars - those filled with fuel and referred to as ICE cars (standing for internal com...
