My wife saw a bee eater for the first time yesterday too, when we were driving up the Ezousa Valley.
That’s a surprise Dominic, there have been lots of them around our place for about 2 weeks now, their very distinctive sound helps to spot them.

Re: Meu1. No s1 and gesy

Below UK retirement age (no S1) with MEU1 plus social insurance contributions = GESY application valid. A dependant of someone meeting these criteria should also be ok. We have medical insurance through Status Insurance, only ever made one claim but dealt with and lid out with no issues.

Re: New screen for I-phone

We have used Nufa LTD - on the main road just before Paphos Mall, close to Ginos Pizza and more or less opposite Begonia Garden Centre for iPhone battery replacement and replacement of a broken iPad Pro screen. Both jobs done quickly and very happy with the results.

Re: Death on Cyprus - urban roads three times higher than EU average

Kay, my wife, who is now starting drive again after a gap of many, many years, is the same as you on the road out of the village. Though to be controversial, I cannot for the life of me see why the limit is 50 all the way up to the main road in the first place. Once you get pat the last few houses o...

Re: A GESY tale ...

6 months notice is not uncommon these days, that’s my wife’s notice period, mine was 3 months but then I’m much less important! 😂 I don’t know this Doctor but is possible she was near to retirement age but in some way forced to sign up to GESY? It could also be that she’s just had some news regardin...

Re: Cordless vacuum cleaners ...

Bought a Dyson V8 direct from Dyson about 18 months ago. Really good and very versatile. Could perhaps do with a bigger dust container but they addressed that in later models. Filters needs a rinse in running water once a month and I also disassemble the main unit at the same time and give that a br...

Re: Passion fruit

HIC, how many years do they take from planting until fruiting? I think we’ve lost a couple of trees this year so could be an option to try as a replacement.

Thanks

Re: How much do you pay for a car-wash?

Ok, should have said “new to me” but it’s only a few months old when we bought it and was allegedly detailed by the dealer in the U.K. prior to shipping. Here’s my routine: - Wheels decontaminated and rinsed - tyres scrubbed and rinsed - pre washed car with snow foam and rinsed, use detailing brushe...

Re: How much do you pay for a car-wash?

Knowing what I know now, I would not use any of them. But then I am a bit obsessive (massive understatement) and it took me the best part of 3 days to get our new car up to a base standard I’m happy with to maintain.

Re: Flight delay compensation

A good summary of the law in the link from HIC, in this case though it looks like a claim may not be successful if the airline can demonstrate that the sole reason for the delay was the bird strike on the inbound flight. I’m all in favour of claiming when the airline has not done its job properly, b...

Re: Flight delay compensation

My wife has done this several times, it’s very straightforward and most airlines have forms on their web pages. In general I See no reason to pay somebody to fill in forms that take 5 or 10 mins. In this case they may well claim that the incident is outside their control

Re: Horseless carraiges.Petrol or Diesel?

I have Never seen any charging points for electric vehicles in Cypriot towns Trev, there is a list of EAC charging points on their website. There are 2 at Paphos EAC building, 2 at each airport and a few more dotted around, mostly Limmasol, Larnaca and Nicosia plus Protaras, Platres and Polis. Ian
