Re: BROADBAND

Yes, Holitec is still doing Broadband, 20 years this month. We tend to do more fibre to the premises as it is so much more reliable than any wireless system and according to CYTA are the largest in the Paphos area. We do still do wireless, but it is slowly becoming redundant as fibre is rolled out t...

Re: TV Options

There are several options for TV Streaming:- If you need a box/stick:- The best box I have found is the Formuler Z10/Z11 series. The Z11 did initially have a few bugs, but the latest firmware fixes these. They come with MyTvOnline2/3 which is pre-loaded and very stable. It links direct to Xstream co...

Looking at https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias/faqs-etias_en#exemptions-and-specific-cases and it does say the following:- ETIAS is a travel authorisation that covers nationals of visa-exempt countries coming to the EU for short-term stays. If you have a residence permit, residence card, or a docu...

Re: Going rate for domestic cleaner

Just a comment on pay rates: If the person has to pay SI themselves - 10 euros is fair. I know a number of people who pay SI themselves, as their employers are tight and let them go to work outside. They pay the SI each month not the legal employer. If the employer covers the SI and the amount is ne...

Re: fibre optic primetel

Hi Gerry, There is a simple answer to this, your ethernet card in your computer is a 10/100 not a 10/100/1000 one, or you only have a 100Mbps cable, not a cat5e/Cat6 cable. Therefore the maximum speed will be limited by the hardware to 100Mbps. The 2.4G primetel-55 connection is the older standard, ...

With mine I had to wait for the letter to say it is ready to collect. That was about 3 weeks after the text system said the application was approved.

Re: Infomir Mag boxes

I have found MAG boxes can have their MAC address leaked. On several occasions recently we found customers had issues, then when checking their IP address on the server was not theirs. Someone else was watching using their account. Some providers allow the box to be locked to a specific internet pro...

Re: Alternative agents

You could try Philippos on 26818589 - he did my MEU1 to UKW3

He does not do this usually, but did mine as a favour as I have known him and his mum for several years. May be worth asking.

If you have a MEU3 you do not have to change it though.

Re: ACCESS TO CYTA

There is parking round the back, you can sneak in past security and park there just before the internal barrier. It is a bit of a nightmare getting back to Peyia from there though, almost need to go to the LIdl on the Mesogi road to then go down back to Peyia. Should be finished by Christmas I heard...

Re: Which Fire stick

Hi, Had experience of some of these, they work well. If you load a tv application like iptvsmarters so you can watch UK tv etc, I found some versions have a little trouble with the catchup, however you just need to load an external player and register smarters to do this. The one I set up at the wee...

Re: Power cuts and net metering

Hi,

In the event of a utility power cut, the solar inverter must stop feeding power to the grid. It is a safety feature, in case someone is working on the power lines.

Re: Android tv box.

This is a strange issue, we have loads of customers with both android and MAG boxes, mine is absolutely glitch free, but some customers have issues as described above. Not all, probably only 5%, which is strange. As stated above, cyta are aware of issues with streaming. YouTube and Netflix usually h...

Re: Internet provider advice.

Hi Peatsie, One of the issues with wireless providers is exactly what you are experiencing. Quite a few now use 60GHZ for their main bridges, which is subject to major rain fade - works fine in clear weather, but in poor weather it simply drops out. This is also why we moved to fixed lines to avoid ...

Re: MEU1/MEU3

I think you will find migration will not do this, I was in there when a British expat came in to make an appointment to change theirs. They were told there was no need and to go away! Yes upgrade your MEU1 to a 3 (but actually no real need to do this unless you intend to leave CY for a longer period...

Re: MEU1/MEU3

I converted my rather old MEU1 to a new UKW3 this year. Not difficult, just the normal documents for a MEU3 like 5 years utility bills, bank statements, SI payments, GESY registration signed by my doctor for health insurance. Made an appointment for photo etc, then wait about 12 weeks to issue the p...

The easiest way is to go to Citizens Service Centre with your documents (passport, yellow slip and registration document), I sold one last year and it was very easy to do. They did the necessary forms there.

Re: Bose computer speaker repair

I know it is a bit of a drive HIC, but Cornel at the electronics service centre in polis 99146440 will probably be able to fix them.

He is excellent at electronic repairs, maybe a bit slow sometimes (probably due to the postage delays for parts at the moment)

Re: S1 Form holder in Cyprus - EHIC still valid.

I received my Cyprus EHIC card a couple of weeks ago, I needed the signed GESY registration form, passport, SI number, plus my MEU form - forgot to take this on day of appointment, so popped back the next day without an appointment - in and out in 15 mins, with new EHIC card. This was at Polis Citiz...
