Re: Fire in moving car, tragedy averted as driver remains calm

But maybe few companies do regular maintenance in Cyprus! Or even have valid insurance and road tax paid .... But this is such a poor comment. To suggest that only a few companies do regular maintenance or have valid insurance and road tax is ridiculous and insulting to the thousands of professiona...

Re: Taking Back Their Island

Because they see themselves as Greeks first and then Cypriots second as do the Turkish Cypriots see themselves as Turks first. I was reading an article yesterday that suggested Cypriot Greek language is closer to Ancient Greek than modern Greek is. The Cypriot Greek language is a vernacular of Gree...

Yes I enjoyed it too. It gave the whole Prince Andrew thing a bit more perspective for me and made Bill Clinton look more of a creep than I already thought he was.

Re: Unemployment Situation

Foreclosures are suspended up to 18th June so I do not understand why that is happening. The announcement in English said: The members of the Association of Cyprus Banks (“ACB”) announced on the 18th of March 2020 that all foreclosure procedures will be suspended for a period of three months, up to ...

Re: What the hell is wrong with the UK?

10 years service in the British army and a complicated process costing £10,000 to apply. Personally I think it’s a disgrace. ANYONE who puts their life directly on the line for the country should have an automatic right to remain at no cost and with help to make the application. Or are we operating ...

BANK THEFT

I have a client based in the UK who had a very significant sum of money stolen from his Cyprus Bank account in the last few weeks. This involved a hack of his personal email and a 'rule' being entered into his Hotmail settings which redirected all emails from the Cyprus bank to a Yandex email addres...

Re: Coronavirus: No new cases, first time since March 10

At the moment there is full quarantine from airport to complete isolation for 2 weeks with a 50,000 fine and up to a year in prison if you break it. Repatriating Cypriots are allowed to return so it doesn’t matter whether they were tested at the airport or here. They were in full quarantine. From to...

Re: Communal Pools to remain CLOSED

Communal pools come under the law that governs public pools as there is no separate law at present. That does not mean that they ARE public pools. So to say anyone can use them is incorrect - it is solely for the use of the people that own it and pay for its upkeep. The public pool law just means th...

Re: Ryanair refunds

This is what Ryanair are doing since this whole thing began. This is what many of the low, cost airlines have also been doing so it’s unfair to target Ryanair. My friend had EasyJet flights for April and they allowed a rebook for May (now cancelled again) and will keep going. I have EasyJet flights...

I can withdraw cash through an atm using my credit card or transfer funds from my credit card to current account online but there is a charge to do this. Maybe ask them if the would waive it in the circumstances.

Re: Paphos: €12,000 stolen from car

Why is it suspicious? Insurance companies wouldn’t pay out for this amount of cash anyway so there is absolutely nothing to gain from making up a story. He is probably kicking himself that everyone know about it.

Lotus you should definitely be able to get on a flight on humanitarian grounds. There are several going as stated and you should be able to get a connecting flight as flights are still going into UK. There are flights to Paris, Frankfurt etc. and it would be better to do it before the UK quarantine ...

On the UK in Cyprus - British High Commission Nicosia FB page they will announce any flights coming up. At the moment they are recommending taking one of the other May European flights and getting an onward flight to the UK. Scroll down on the FB page to see the Cyprus Airways post. https://www.face...
