Re: Free healthcare comes at a price

I also concur with WHL. Nothing at all has changed as regards operations and in-patient services. You would continue to use the state hospitals exactly as before using your hospital card. If you didn't have a hospital card before then you would be in the same situation now with having to pay private...

As a non-resident of Tala, can anyone explain who 'my village' will be governed by?
It would appear we are saved and will remain a community council.

Re: Procedures adopted by Solictors and Agents here in Cyprus

solicitors fees were 800.00 euros + vat. The very good solicitor I used was Haris Kalogirou & Co who I have used on a number of occasions over the last 20 years and would certainly recommend. This sounds exactly right. Most lawyers have a set fee for conveyancing of 1% of the sale price + VAT + act...

Clive, go with your passport to make the appointment and they will give you a list of e everything you will need to bring to your appointment. No need for photos, they are taken by immigration on the day.

Re: Banks getting greedy - governments says it will act

In my Germany bank account (which is completely free of any charges) and my broker account. The problem is that if you haven't already got an account in another country, it is not so easy to open one now. So for many, a Cypriot bank is the only real option. I did look into opening an international ...

Re: Banks getting greedy - governments says it will act

Do you even need a Cypriot bank account anymore given that there are services like revolut.com? Does anybody have experience with them? Are they reliable and convenient? These days as far as I can work out there is absolutely no need to have a Cypriot bank account. I do have one but haven't needed ...

Re: Banks getting greedy - governments says it will act

But surely accounts such as Revolut are completely online anyway. I have a Hellenic account and online transfers are free including SEPA transfers which are now free up to €1000 so there is not much point in changing. I do completely disagree with the huge hike in branch banking charges which direct...

GESY - Provider Search

For anyone searching for a doctor or outpatient specialist or other service, just select the Search Providers button from the main GESY web page. Then select District, Segment and Speciality. It lists all providers nationwide who are registered with GESY and includes addresses and phone numbers (oft...

Re: Sellers beware

One of the larger developers has always done this. They ask their clients how much they want and then they sell at whatever they want - sometimes its for a huge amount more - keeping the difference. But they can find the buyers and you can't so it's up to you if you want to sign such an agreement. U...

Re: First Time Visit to Nicosia Immigration Office

Leave plenty of time as it is easy to be directed to the wrong window and each window normally has a large queue so it takes a while to find out you may be in the wrong one! I'm a very friendly and patient person who usually has no problem at all with government offices but have found some pretty ru...

Personally I have only sympathy and can only imagine the distress to his own family. People are shaped by their culture and the way they are brought up - I don't think it's necessary to make such comments on someone's death.

Re: Archbishop: "We will build the hotel either next to the ancient

I took part in the recent demonstration at the site. There are some lovely ancient stone walls there and it would be a great shame to lose the site to development. The anger and demonstration was spearheaded by the arrival of bulldozers who started digging it up without there being any kind of permi...

Re: S1 Healthcare - How long will it continue in Cyprus?

The reason your employee is covered is because he is working which is the first GESY qualifying criteria. Retirees and early retirees as third country nationals will need to have MEU3/permanent resdiency unless there is some other agreement made or they may have to get a job until they get their MEU...

I suffered for years and would get sparkles like a kalaidescope in my eye at the start. If I immediately took Migralieve it would almost certainly stop it in its tracks. I had to carry them everywhere with me. I moved to Cyprus in 2003 and have only had 2 since. No idea why - diet, stress levels, su...

Definite increase for me this year. I've never had them in the house before and am battling with them daily. As soon as a crumb drops - they are on their way! The trouble is that with garden areas all around, I can't spray or put powder everywhere.

So in summary: If you are an MEU3 holder AND on a UK state pension with an S1 form, make sure you register as an S1 holder and not as an MEU3 holder otherwise you will have to contribute. If you register as an MEU 3 holder and are not working and not yet retired, make sure you switch to S1 holder wh...
