Assuming you mean the Asprokremmos, I would bet money on it overflowing if I was a gambling man. The Kouris dam would be another kettle of fish. The Evretou dam won't overflow, as it has no overflow. The Evretou reservoir may well overflow though, though it is less likely than the Asprokremmos.

Is there no spillway at Evertou, what happens if it does get full, the water has to go somewhere?

I thought there was a spillway at Evretou, to the left of the plain below the dam wall?

I wouldn't have believed Asprokremmos could go from 14% full to overflowing in 1 winter, I thought we'd need 2 rainy winters. But now I believe it will overflow - and I'm looking forward to it, it was great last time!

There is a spillway at Evretou. It is just not at the dam. I said you will never see the dam overflow. You won't.

You can see our pictures of it here:

I can't see how it won't overflow.... Xeros river still has a healthy flow and there'll be more rain. Personally I'm expecting it to overflow within a couple of weeks.

"With Asprokremmos dam set to overflow in the next few days, the Water Development department on Tuesday announced a series of measures from Thursday so that visits to the dam will be carried out safely and with the minimum of inconvenience."

Don't tell it Lincoln, he knows better anyhow.... ;)

Yes a couple of metres is needed, but its a vast, huge, mega area and so not much chance of ti overflowing.

This was my post on 18.2.

Latest figures from the Water Department showing that only 6 MCM are missing until the dam will overflow. As the daily inflow right now is about 0.8 MCM you can perhaps work out yourself when this will happen...By the way the highest levels of our dams is normally March/April not now in February ;)

93% full yesterday and if any of the downpours, that hit my place in the early hours of this morning, fell to the north of the dam then it's going to keep on getting fuller? :)

I was actually thinking days, I was expecting it to happen this weekend (and that was before I read the article), but when I posted I chickened out and went for a more cautious estimate :D

I am wondering if the capacity of the dam is less now as the Xeros river transported a lot of material (earth & stones) this winter unlike other seasons when it was only a trickle inflow. This would mean the overflow is sooner than in ca 10 days or so. Today's figures show that 3.2 MCM are missing to overflow while the inflow is ca 0.3 MCM. Let's see what happens in a few days....

Kouris overflowed in 2012 but is a long way from doing so this year....
