Meletis Forest Necropolis

Whilst out geocaching today we found ourselves at the Meletis Forest Necropolis just 100m off the road to the Akamas and just beyond the final houses on the road. A mini-Tomb of the Kings that we never knew existed, despite driving past it numerous times over the years. We might have spotted it sooner if it had a traditional brown antiquities sign pointing the way, but we had never even glanced at the ordinary looking sign that is there. With so many roadside signs our brains just tune most of them out. If you are a history buff, and have not already done so, it is well worth a visit, and easily accessible along a good path.

Excellent blog which I hadn't seen before as I only started to follow the forum in February when we started to spend a lot of time here. Many thanks.

The D.G. Hogarth would be the mentor, even father figure to T.E. Lawrence in his early days as an archaeologist before fame as Lawrence of Arabia.
