As promised at the end of our last blog about Skarfos Bridge, we now take a look at the village of Simou, nestled 16km oustide of Polis, and see what it has to offer.

We were also there this August with our visiting children and once more had a lovely lunch at the Taverna near the tree. We like to other all kind of different starters and share, like grilled haloumi, loukanika (sausages), garlic mushroom, lountza with pita bread etc etc plus a nice salad. The white paint on the tree is to prevent certain insects I was told.

Ah thank you. That makes perfect sense. I normally associate that sort of painting with visibility issues, but that wouldn't apply here.

Main reason that they paint the trunks white is to avoid sun burn and overheating. I painted my citrus trees also in the past, when they reached a certain age in order to avoid that they split open...

Another interesting blog thanks, Dominic! Yes, Simou is indeed a beautiful village and well worth a lunchtime or evening meal visit.

I couldn't find Fat Chips on your Menu photo, though...

Here's a photo I took after my cold beer in Simou. It seems to capture the daytime atmosphere of the place, in terms of peace and quiet, tranquility, and being totally laid back...
