Is it right that you can only use the sms system if you have a Cyprus phone number?
No, not based on the non resident tourists I’ve previously helped through the process. See a,is the guidance pasted below from Mr Google:
In Paphos, you can use SMS to pay for parking through the Pafos Smart Parking system. To pay, text the parking bay number to 9191. This method is particularly useful for
non-residents and those who prefer not to use the mobile app, according to Guide to Paphos. A charge of €1 will be applied per text message, and the cost will be added to your mobile phone bill.
How to pay by SMS:
Find a parking bay: Locate a parking space with a designated number.
Text the number: Send the parking bay number to 9191 via SMS.
Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation message, and your payment will be processed.
Notifications: The system may also send you notifications about the end of your parking time.
Important Notes:
Ensure you have a local SIM card or a roaming plan that allows you to send SMS in Cyprus.
You can also use the Pafos Smart Parking app for more detailed information, including finding available parking spaces and managing your parking sessions.
The app allows for more precise payment based on actual parking time, while SMS charges a flat €1 per message
