First time this year at the sea front.... pics

Yesterday, June 1, was the perfect weather condition to enjoy fish lunch at Timi beach in my favourite fish tavern.
Not too hot yet, no wind at all and sitting in one meter distance from the sea.... that's what I like the most.

I arrived at the place before 12 AM since the car wash I went before, was quicker than I thought, hence no much customers yet.
Image

The owner just finished cleaning the whole area hours before... this is the way from the main restaurant to the beach pavilion.
Image

So inside the place the customer can see all kind of fresh fish and take his order from there.
Image

This is the fish they reserved for me, a 380 gr Sorgos, just caught this morning with their own fishing boats at Timi Beach.
Image

My usual table next to the sea was also reserved and I had a look what's happening at the beach while waiting for food.
Image

Very soon the usual village salad arrived (its called Max's salad as it is with garlic, but without cabbage)
Image

Of course not only salad, but also a small bottle of red "Tsanggarides", village bread, sea salt, lemons.
Half hour later the main dish arrived as I demand enough time to relax by eating this huge salad and enjoy the views.

close up of fish and the chips, which are made from their own potatoes right behind the tavern and harvested last week.

After removing the main bone one can see how perfect the fish was cooked from George, chef and one of the owners.
Image

While waiting for coffee and small dessert, another view at the beach, people enjoying their time swimming...
Image

The seaweed will be removed not before July as they don't trust the weather, as heavy wind can bring the weed back to shore.

So finally I received Greek coffee and a delicious sweet dessert called "Tsipopitta" which is a pitta made with cream and a nut filling.(home-made)
(both from the house)

I suggest, not to visit the tavern on a Sunday as it is usually very very busy with locals and tourists as well.

Looks lovely Max as always, a wonderful place to go to, i think the Sorgos is what we know as a sea bream and has a milder taste than some not as fishy, correct me if i am wrong. 8-)

Well, Sorgos is a wild-caught WHITE sea bream, unlike from a fish farm, called Tsipoura (Gilthead Sea Bream) in Cyprus, it has a different taste and much higher price. Tsipoura and Lavraki (Sea Bass) you can find in nearly every supermarket for a relative low price, but they are both from different fish farms on the island.
I used to grill Lavraki plenty times, many years ago at home until I was watching a program in German TV about fish farming  and stopped.

By the way you cannot beat the taste of a just caught fresh fish, which is the case when I eat in that tavern as I am always phoning them to ask which fish is just arrived in order to keep it for me.

I agree Max there is definitely a difference between farmed fish and line caught fish in both taste and price

No worries. I understand not wanting it to get too crowded!
