A while ago we reviewed a new map book on Cyprus. We noted that it showed a lot of churches in Polemi that we were unaware of. Many of them are in ruins now, but we thought they deserved to be seen. So join us as we visit them all, or at least, what's left of them.

Dominic, as you know our home is the one on the slope approaching Apostoloi. Having enquired with the fonts of knowledge from the village coffee shops, many of the stones from the old building were used a long, long time ago to construct stone houses in the village. The same may be true for some of the others.

I would imagine that to be the case, yes.

Mind you, it is swings and roundabouts. You can often find old churches in the countryside that have incorporated even older masonry in their walls. I seem to remember that the ancient monastery in the Diarizos Valley near Prastio had a Roman pillar or two in its walls.
