KOURIS RESERVOIR
LIMASSOL, CYPRUS
Drive to Limassol on the motorway, and take a left turn when you see the signpost for Kouris Dam. Stay on the road until you cross the dam and drive up the left hand side of the reservoir. You will soon come to a left turn and see the entrance gate. If you are timid you may want to park here and walk up. Otherwise, drive up carefully watching out for exposed manholes. When you get to the top, continue on the main track and you will eventually end up in the stable area.

MAXIMOS RANCH
ORIGINALLY DESIGNED AS A STUD FARM FOR APAALOOSAN HORSES, THE RANCH IS NOW ABANDONED AND IS SLOWLY RETURNING TO NATURE.
When the owner of the ranch died in a tragic accident, the family wanted nothing more to do with the place, and it was closed down. The horses were all auctioned off, and the buildings were left to nature.
We have visited the ranch several times since then, and have documented nature's progress. We have also documented the recycling that goes on when buildings are abandoned. Tiles, slates and brickwork have no doubt found their way into other local buildings as people salvage what is no longer wanted.
What will eventually become of the place? Will it ever be restored, or is it already too late for that? And if not, what will the place be like in 50, or 100 years time? We'd love to be able to say "Click on this link to find out", but unfortunately our time machine is out at the menders. However, if you use LINKS option in the menu below you will see links to all the content we have published about this ranch.
And occasionally, as you wander through this tour, you will find a picture on a wall we have added, showing what the place used to look like in its prime.
