Well, no sympathy for them. Drivers must know the law about wearing seat belts, if they don’t hitting them in the pocket should give them the message..
It’s also high time that children were always secured in properly fitted child seats for their own safety.

I am glad that the police are tackleng this major contribution to the islands accident and fatality figures.

And rightly so.

Clunk Click Every Trip.

Now who was it who said that.

Clue, he was a good friend of Alastair Campbell.

Good news. But shouldn't just be a two week campaign but stop people all the time who are breaking the seat belt law. Same goes for drink driving. How often do you see folk getting in their cars after an afternoon at the pub/bar?? Nick the lot I say. And I'm not just a spoilt sport as I like a drink as well but would never drive a car afterwards!

I got done a few years ago for no seat belt, just a bad habit of driving off and putting it on. Had only gone a few metres when I was pulled in and fined €85.
Now I tend to put it on before I drive off but must admit to the odd lapse now and again.

I think many of us are the same Jim.. However lots of cars have an alarm that sounds when you drive without the seat belt fastened... Ours does and it is 10 years old.
Some people it would seem go to the trouble of connecting the seat belt into the retainer clip, but not around their body.. This is only and assumption, as surely people do not drive around with the seat belt warning sound beeping away all day..

Trev there are hundreds of these seat belt clips on the internet, for a few pounds, if people are so stupid to drive about with a seat belt, then good luck to them, they will need it,

What is the fine now for not wearing a seat-belt?

is it €85 or has it changed to €300 ?

900 x €300 is a lot of money ( if it's paid )

= €270,000

Don't know where this 'If the fines paid' myth comes from, trust me I have have more speeding fines, plus a few parking fines over the years, then I should have, and they don't just forget about them, In the past i've had the Police, knock on my door, plus a couple of threats of it going to court, mainly because I've been out of the country and not got around to pay them, eventually, they will get around to you, and you will be made to pay, plus an excess for being late.

My 10 year old car also had a buzzer which goes off if I forget to fasten my seat belt. In fact it is so persistent and annoying that I “clunk click” almost immediately. I am grateful that it is there as it has saved me from the risk of being fined for forgetting{
Unfortunately, the front passenger seat must also have a link to the alarm which sounds if there is anything heavier than about 2- 3lbs left on the passenger seat!
