Does anybody know any Pharmacies in the Paphos area, who are geared up for the new GESY system?
I spoke to my usual one this morning, and he said he had heard nothing, so he would be charging the usual price for all medication, even after Monday.

There are going to be a LOT of teething problems..
Our Gesy applications via the doctor still have not been accepted... Or at least we have had no word about it..
I read that 560 Pharmacies had signed up... But it didn't say which ones they were.
So, how is the patient to find out which Pharmacy is Gesy registered..

It would be good if there was a list published... i always thought that all the Pharmcies would become Gesy pharmacies.

Maria is the nearest to our home... However Many Pharmacists close for lunch so we often use ones throughout the town..

Trev, last time I spoke to Maria she told me should would be part of GESY, that was a few weeks ago though and was lacking information herself, so I’m not sure of the current position. Why not call in and ask next time you go by. I’m not planning to go that way for a few days but will call in in due course.

One pharmacist I asked was worried as she hadn't received the list so it looks like that may now have been sorted. She was also a bit worried at her lack of computer literacy. The Paphos pharmacists have been undertaking training (on Sundays) at Neapolis university and she was struggling a bit with learning the new software. I told her she would no doubt get used to it once she had been using it for a while.

Morning.
We have registered at a local private hospital with the GESY GP and he told us the pharmacy at his hospital will be taking prescriptions from that hospitals GESY GP, we will soon be finding out, when I asked there were very few pharmacies who had signed up to GESY regarding prescriptions, it looks like a compleat cock up, no doubt they will get it sorted.
I also use Andreas Aspros the dentist who is Tassos Aspros brother who owns the pharmacy opposite Andreas practice is doing GESY prescriptions.

My wife went into Maria's Pharmacy at the top of Polis road this morning.. She had a repeat prescription for some tablets and wanted some more.. Hopefully at €1 a box.. No chance.. We have to be signed up with the pharmacy.... So it seems you can only use one in the Gesy System.. Also Maria told her it is not a paper prescription, but one sent to her over the internet from the doctor..
I wonder what you do when a Pharmacy is closed for lunch.. And what about evenings and Sundays and Holidays... There is a lot yet that needs making clear..

Popped into the pharmacy by St George's traffic lights in Chloraka and the shop is displaying a GESY poster on the front window so people know it has signed up to the system.
Pharmacist told me that when a doctor writes a prescription it will be sent to him via the GESY information system and he can then issue the medication.
I had read many months ago that people would have to sign up to a particular pharmacy but recent media articles give the impression that you can go to any GESY pharmacy.

I expect most people will use the Pharmacy attached to their GP's Hospital. That would appear to be the easier option.

Not necessarily , you might have a pharmacy on your doorstep that is more convenient . And as they are changing to prescriptions valid for 6 months , but you can only collect 1 months supply at a time.

Mrbloddy, yes I would rather use my usual Pharmacy, but the last time I asked, I was told that most of the private pharmacies don't have the correct software for the new system. All very confusing.

Our GP is not attached to a Hospital... In fact we have not actually managed to register with a GP yet..

It might be useful checking the Gesy list , things are changing by the day .

Mrblobby - Thank you for the link to GESY healthcare providers.
So nice to be able to access all the Personal Doctors, Outpatient Specialists, Laboratories and Pharmacies in one place and not to have to login into the GESY website to do so!

Trev, I’m probably not getting the point you’re making here, but what do you do now when a pharmacy is closed for, lunch, sundays and holidays? I would imagine there will still be a list of late night pharmacies as there has been for a long time?
