So what is the name of this village nestling on a hilly location?

Hmmmm, the goto mosque-on-a-hill village for me is Pelathousa, but the mosque is set further back from the hill than that.

No, not Pelathousa Dominic.
This mosque was built only in 1920 while the Pelathousa one was much older and has a different design as well. Here a pic from Pelathousa mosque.

Thank you Max
Could it be Platanisteia ?

I was driving through Platanisteia recently and couldn't see any minaret as it lost it, only the rest of the mosque is there near the old Turkish school...
So I am afraid: the answer is no.

Hi Max, when you do the walk from Archimandrita down the valley and on through the gorge you end up at a village, I think it is called Alektora.....if I remember correctly there was a mosque similar to the picture ?

Alektora is not that village, but respect if you walk all the way from Archimandrita (Kato?) to Alektora and back...

Thanks for this Max. I do a lot of driving around, exploring, when I can, but I have no idea where this is. I look forward to the answer.

Sorry Louise, but also Avdimou village is wrong. The village I am talking is on a hill, quite steep on one side...
Another hint: it is 2 km away from the Paphos district boarder, just in Limassol territory.

Interesting, thanks Max. I've driven past Malia many times, but always on the same road and I don't think I've ever driven through or around the village.

I took the photo from the "old road to Vasa". Only from there it shows the bluff bank where the minaret is. The main road leads around to the other side of the village which you obviously used...
