Is it a hard G as in "GUESS"

or

A soft G as in "JUST"

I would imagine it is like Flossie says:

Geroskipou is pronounce Yeroskipou. etc etc

But if somebody asks me how I pronounce something, "badly" is probably the most accurate response.

My Cypriot neighbour pronounces it Kizzy

Does it matter?

For what it's worth, I was at my doctor earlier, so I asked him.

As Flossie already said, it's a soft G (Y), but he pointed out that the stress is on the EE sound at the end. He pronounced it like this:

yeah*-sEE

(so sort of rhyming with "air")

He also told me what it stood for, but don't ask me to remember that (basically a translation of General Health System).
