The bbc has a program running on murder cases , this week it was the case of a Cypriot woman who was hanged in the 1950s . Everyone knows the last woman hanged was Ruth Ellis but no one knows who was the second to last .
Fascinating story .

I have amended your title to make it less sensational.

I've watched a few of these investigations and find them fascinating. The judge who studies all the evidence from the barristers often rules that there was in fact a miscarriage of justice, not always though.

Coincidentally, the murder was committed in the same street where a few months later Ruth Ellis was to commit hers - South Hill Park, Camden in London.

Every fiction UK book I read I always see how many pages I get to before someone goes to Camden. Worked there for 6 years.
Saddo.

This is why capital punishment was abolished, too many innocents hanged, remember that to those who cry for it to be reinstated.

Agree with you Uncle D. I remember the Bentley case where a young man was hanged when he hadn't actually killed the policeman in the case. He was pardoned many years later, but what good was that to his family?? Which is just one reason I could never support capital punishment.

She was not innocent, in fact she was involved in the murder, of her own mother in law, previously in Cyprus.
