Paphos protests proposed new cathedral in town centre

A protest against the creation of a new Cathedral to be built in Paphos town hall gardens will be held at 6pm today. The contentious issue is the first item slated to be discussed at Thursday night???s council meeting, according to authorities....

This is an old chestnut. The Bishop of Paphos has been pushing for this for years! He has got nowhere with previous Paphos Mayors, but I guess he is trying yet again with the present one. Why do they need one? They already have two very large churches and numerous smaller ones.

I can't understand why, in a time of falling congregations, the Cyprus church insists on building more and more churches.
