I did manage to find out what they are but can honestly say, I've never heard of the stuff..... but it does look rather like the mealworms I put out for the birds this morning.

I'm not going to tell what it is as I had to hunt it down on the internet - will leave it to the troops to keep guessing or until someone else finds it the way I did

I remember Spanish Gold sold in packets that looked like Sun Valley tobacco.
From what I remember it was a lot darker (and thicker) than the picture suggests.
