Apparently penalty points in the UK are about to double to 6 if caught using a mobile whilst driving. Goodness if they copied this in Cyprus there would hardly be anyone left on the roads!!

Not only that
“Drivers caught using a phone within two years of passing their test will have their licence revoked under new rules in England, Scotland and Wales.”

Why limit the ban to those who have been driving less than 2 years?
Geoff.

I have just watched a bit about this on UK news. A man they interviewed was right that it should be part of leaning to drive... Turn Off the phone and put it in the glove box..

I fail to see what is so urgent about almost all phone calls that they cannot wait to be made or received until the vehicle is parked somewhere safe ...
but then, I'm one of the very few (special people?) who don't have a smart phone either.

The rule for new drivers losing their licence in first two years applies to all driving offences not only for the phone issue. It has been in force for quite a number of years.
If they get 6 points in the first two years licence goes, whatever the offence the points are awarded for, it also includes any points they already have on a provisional licence.
