3 months delivery, Amazon DE.

Back on the 28th of November last year we ordered a dog lead from Amazon DE... The item was paid for, and according to the 'track and trace' was dispatched...
We kept looking online to see where it was.. It showed it had left Germany for Cyprus. Weeks went by and in January after the Christmas rush I went to the post office to enquire about it... I got the Cyprus shrug and I was told it was not in Cyprus..
So, due to non delivery the money for the dog lead was claimed back.

However on Thursday this week, the last day of February, I received a note to say there was a parcel to collect at the Post Office.. Yesterday the 1st of March I went to collect the parcel.... It was the dog lead :-)
Three months is the longest delivery time that we have known.. :-(

If the Amazon item (no matter what country) is important to you then pay the faster delivery charge for shipping, I made an order for a large picture from DE last week and it came to the door in two days, yes it cost more but no going down to the PO to pick up an order and wait many weeks, in Trevs case months, have to say this has fortunately never happened to me.

So was the delay on the UK side or the Cypriot side ? I know which one I would think it was.

The trouble with DE (Amazon) post from Germany is that when it leaves Germany it doesn't necessary come directly to Cyprus unless it's expedited.
The plane carrying your goods has several stops to make. That could be Italy, Malta, Greece, Romania, Croatia, Hungary, etc. etc. So it can easily take a week from the departure date from Germany. I suspect a package taking 4 weeks or more was probably unloaded (incorrectly) in the wrong country at some point and therefore left abandoned for a while until somebody realised it's true destination (probably at a customs point) and was able to allocate a collection for the next available plane that was calling at that country bound for Cyprus.
As Jim X said the way to avoid a delay is to pay the extra for expedited shipping and the goods will be in Paphos in a few days (with full tracking).

The fundamental problem is that the tracking system used is flawed, and nobody for the shipping company seems prepared to investigate where the flaw is.

As Dominic says there is a lack of people or a person to investigate where exactly the missing parcel is..
My wife ordered an item from Amazon DE last year, and it only turned up for collection last week..
And where do the Kindles go that are ordered form Amazon .com . The tracking of TWO ended in Germany, and they have never turned up.. I am currently happily using the Third one that Amazon sent me..

Trevor,

Good service overall from Amazon then, cannot understand why tracking doesn't seem to work, it surely should do in this day and age.
