The gas finding now has energy analysts wondering how thorny it will be working with Cyprus — a divided country, between Greece and Turkey — and its split maritime zones.
Hasn´t that coup in 1974 failed?

My last project was a new gas plant and refurbishment of an existing plant at Idku, Alexandria in Egypt and there was talk of connecting a pipeline to the Aphrodite Field from the adjacent Egyptian field which has pipelines running ashore at Idku where there is plenty of spare capacity.

Hope that this will eventually mean cheaper electricity for the island, though I wont hold my breath.

If the amounts of gas they are talking about, then we can all expect much better things,in years to come, ie schools, hospitals, power plants, roads, infrastructure etc etc.

If Cyprus uses the Norway model of investing for the future rather than frittering the money away like successive British governments did then the future does look good for the island.

Exactly, I don't remember the British public benefiting from low fuel prices when the North Sea reserves were in full flow.

Are you trying to say Britain did not benefit, from having North sea oil revenue, coming into the country?

The thatcher economy fully relied on the north sea and sold the assets for cash rather than any Norway model. Without the birth sea reserves, Britain’s economy would have nose dived.

I can read, and not trying to twist anything, Im sure without the revenue the UK recieved, you would of been taxed a lot more.
