Pensions

My wife has 2 works pensions and the state pension .

One of the works pensions is very small . We have received a letter from them saying she can take a cash lump sum instead of the monthly pension . At 70 it would take 20 years to get the amount they have offered , so we said yes .

This is the wording they used .

Protected Rights letters to members
Over the last few years there have been some changes in pensions legislation which mean that some members who only have a Protected Rights fund left in the Plan can now receive a refund of this fund.
