Last night I got to see the first episode of Lethal Weapon , starting on ITV this Friday . It is the Mel Gibson film made into a series with new actors . Both my wife and I thought it was very good and look forward to more .
Hard to believe the first film was made in 1987

What's the point in making it into a series?
I've seen it done the other way around, this just seems a bit odd...
Lots of new UK TV drama's starting this week

My hubby always says Ant and Dec are the modern version of Morecambe and Wise.... you can see many similarities in some of the things they do. The singer in the spotlight on their show on Saturday night was a very familiar Morecambe and Wise routine

"Broadchurch" is back tonight with, if the interview and trailer on BBCNews this morning are anything to go by, a cracking opening episode with Julie Hesmondhalgh.

They made four film versions of the original, so they must have thought it was a winning formula .
So why not make a series out of it ? Give it a try you might like it .
Bates motel was a great movie , but I am loving the series .

Funnily enough, we've never watched any of the Lethal Weapon movies but have watched the Bates one several times over the years. We caught the first episode of the Bates TV series a while back when we were living in Cyprus. Neither of us particularly liked it so we didn't watch any more of it....
Has anyone been watching the TV series SS - GB which has just shown its' 2nd episode last night?
I can't get my head around it, I'm not enamoured of the characters so not bothered if I don't see any more of it. However, my other half has read the Len Deighton book some years ago - and thinks it's really good. His only criticism is that the guy playing the lead role (Archer) is too young for a man of his position.

Another new one - starting on Thursday ITV at 9pm for those Prime Suspect fans.
Stefanie Martin plays the "young" Jane Tennison:
https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radi ... -beginning
"Set in 1970s Hackney, it will see Tennison start as a WPC on the beat before being thrown into a brutal murder enquiry. Viewers will also meet her family and gain an insight into her personal life before her time as a detective in Prime Suspect."

Ps , Danny Glover had a neat mobile phone in Leathal Weapon .
I was looking forward to SSGB , but after a few minuets turned it off .

There were quite a lot of complaints apparently about the sound quality of SS-GB because it sounded like it was muffled. The 2nd episode wasn't as bad as the first for the sound but it's definitely a "no" on my clap-o-meter.

SS-GB from BBC got some bad press in the newspaper reviews, too.. Everything very dark, actors mumbling, so the viewer had little idea of what was actually going on. To the point that switching on Sub-Titles was a good idea, LOL!
If you want a laugh about Nazi occupations in WW2, just view some of the "Allo allo" replays... As for SS-GB, we had that for real in the Channel Islands in WW2, did we not?
Cheers- AL

Re Prime Suspect - I struggle sometimes with these 'resurrections' . I loved the original 'Prime Suspect', have several DVDs of the original series. As with 'Morse', can't get my head around 'Endeavour' . Why do they try to resurrect such good series, just let them go. Just doesnt work IMHO.

Now I really like Endeavour.
To be honest though, we lost touch with Prime Suspect a few years after we arrived in Cyprus and haven't watched it for absolutely ages so I doubt this new series will have any great impact on our viewing.
