I don't quite get the "year round" tag either. The weather isn't very tourist-friendly in January.

There is a percentage of the hotels/apartments that close so it’s not suprising thr restaurants in Kato Paphos follow suit from December- February but it’s a great opportunity for those on holiday in the accommodation that’s open to try out the restaurants in Ktima.......

Think Paphos CTO needs to get its act together. If CTO is branding it a year round holiday resort, then hotels and restaurants need to be open!

Ah yes, but hang on a minute, if holidaymakers come to Cyprus in the expectation of hotels, bars and restaurants being open and they're not............................ where does the problem lie???

Either Cyprus is a year round holiday destination, or it isn't. How difficult is that CTO?

Not enough tourists in winter, to make it viable for a lot of restaurants to remain open, financial suicide to have ten pounds expenses while only taking five.... Restaurant owners would happily stay open if the customer's were around,

Basically, it isn't!

Totally agree Shane and WHL! In which case. CTO needs to stop promoting it as a year round destination. Sad but true, no matter how much everyone would love to see it as such, in reality it just ain't!

PaphosAL God rest his soul came over in Feb last year and apart from his tummy upset seem to have a good time and he even booked for a return this year. I think with us Brits a break is a break and the old folk with less to spend find Cyprus a good option as it is better than the UK winter. A few places do all inclusive through the winter months that will not help local bars or eating places though and I think this is where the all year holiday comes from.

CTO no longer exists. Perhaps the new body will take a fresh view of the whole thing. https://cyprus-mail.com/2018/12/18/sea- ... ansformed/

Happy in Cyprus wrote: Wed Jan 30, 2019 1:04 am As I've said before, if you ban All Inclusive (AI) in Cyprus, then tourists looking for AI will simply go elsewhere. People vote with their wallets.

Much as though we and restaurant owners may dislike it, for many tourists AI what they're looking for in a holiday.
You have an opinion on everything so how can we be expected everything?

MW (MB) this is a forum no matter who you dislike, insulting a long standing member is not the way to go. more respect on your part is needed.

Nothing unusual about Tavernas and restaurants closing for the winter season in Pafos, this has always been the case, either through lack of customers or upgrading their establishment.

The hotels that have stayed open this winter seem well used, Cyprus has always been touted an all year round resort, always has, this winter has been below the normal but some years as we all know can be like this, it is still far milder than the UK, also it is nice to be able to drive and park comfortably around the town.

Just wish that some of the places that do remain open would make the place more welcoming and warm. Have been twice to a coffee shop that will be lovely from the Spring onwards, but it was colder inside than outside. I may as well have stayed at home! Not only that, it would be nice to have a greeting and a smile from the staff. Oh well, yet another place crossed off my list.
