As a Cornishman I take my hat off to you for tryng that delicacy in Cyprus & started to get excited when you said is was approx a foot long which sounds about right but when you mentioned gravy & chips & I started to lose interest. Having said that my late mil always insisted on gravy with my wifes pasty so guess I am out of touch with the modern world. Bet you ignored the traditional way of eating it by your hands and used a knife & fork just like my wife

Real Cornish pasties had by the Cornish miners was in 2 halves 1 savoury and the other sweet I was told by my gran who's father was Cornish. Please correct me if I'm wrong and tell the true story of a pasty. In Bolton we have YE old Pasty shop and it is very thin pastry rolled and a meat and spud filling and it just falls apart a bit like a wrap you can get but filling is to die for, they are as old as the man and scythe on the square which is one of the oldest pubs in England.
