I thought I would start a
Topic covering images from around the District of Paphos. It's not specific to any particular theme but just covers images that (hopefully) will be of interest to other members! I'll start the ball rolling with these & will post others as & when .................... if other members want to add images then that would be great?

This was one of the first photos I took, we thought it was a nice shot of the sun setting behind some church bell towers ........... it took us a couple of years to realise that it was actually the Elysium Hotel!!

A Sardinian Warbler, a resident in our grounds & one of the more common birds around the Paphos region, though this was not always the case!

This is a photo of MS The World, currently the largest privately owned residential yacht in the World! Back in September we were sat on our patio having a coffee at around 7:30am when this beast "sailed" over the top of the Elysium Hotel ..... some sight believe me! It docked outside the harbour so we shot down to have a look! It has 165 privately owned 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments, the apartment owners actually own the yacht & they have a committee that organises everything including its annual itinerary, I think next year it's going to stop off in the Arctic!
Well that's a start so hope you enjoy

Lovely photos. Rather than keep your next batch in the same thread, could you start a new thread please? If you have one thread with loads of photos in it, it takes ages for somebody new to the forum to load the page, as all the images will have to be downloaded. If you keep looking at the same thread it isn't an issue, as the pictures will be cached and not downloaded again. But a new user will have to wait a long time.

I did wonder if there would be a problem if I kept adding to the original thread, now I know!

Although she is/was the world's largest cruise ship, The World is referred to as a residential ship as a number of people do actually live onboard on a permanent basis, therefore keeping the number of passengers down to around 200 passengers per cruise.
So I guess she doesn't need quite as many lifeboats as we would expect to see on a ship as big as that.....

Having worked in the H & S industry, I would expect that The World would have some tough standards to comply with so I guess it would have sufficient "escape" routes to ensure that it's occupants, both residents & staff combined numbering up to 300+, could evacuate safely in the event of a problem .............. unless you have a Titanic moment!
