Anybody know somewhere that sells them? Nothing fancy, just a bog standard one, and possibly a stunt kite...

Why is Green Monday a kite flying day?
The answer to this question is really just because flying a kite is an age old tradition associated with festivals both in Cyprus and across the world. But in addition to being a simple form of entertainment for all ages, flying kites also has a symbolic meaning in keeping with the start of Lent.
Just as the kite soars high above the ground, breaking free from being held down and enjoying the fresh wind as it climbs higher and higher, so the Christian can use the period of Lent to breathe in the fresh spring air and reflect on new experiences to be captured as the spring season begins.
Either way, now you know why every shop is selling kites in the run up to Green Monday!
Happy kite flying day!

And the kids have something to do while the adults have peace and quiet
to wash down too much salad and veg with some fire-water (on the quiet)

Dominic, if I'd seen this sooner you could have borrowed ours for the day. As Mrs W is working, i feel honour bound to stay at home and do a bit of light painting or digging rather than swanning off and enjoying myself! Unless of course I just slope off whilst she's on a conference call.....

My brother had an expensive stunt kite which he let me fly on Richmond Common. I had a Charlie Brown moment and the kite dive bombed into the ground.
He didn't let me have another go.
So you dodged a bullet there I think. Besides, it is not as if we won't want to fly it again at some point. And if there is no wind I will try practicing my drone again. Our daughter is making a nice income fetching it at the moment.

Try the drone over our place, an aerial shot would be nice!

I will do once I can stop it shooting off in the wrong direction! I've already had to chase it over a vineyard. I now take it to a very big field on the Akamas. I will get the hang of it though...
Our kites were a bust! One of them had only one pole when it should have had 3. The other had the correct number, but one was half the length it should have been. I will post a little blog of the pictures I took though, because the Akamas itself was quite busy, and I did get some shots of other people flying kites at least.
